or clauses together .
There are three basic types of
conjunctions.
coordinating conjunctions
which joins clauses of equal rank are
called coordinating conjunctions.
subordinating conjunctions
are used to connect the dependent
clause and the rest of the sentence.
correlative conjunctions
which are used in pair are called
correlative conjunctions.
3. COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS
Conjunctions which joins clauses of equal
rank are called coordinating conjunctions.
The seven coordinating conjunctions in
English are:
FANBOYS
FOR
AN
NOR
BUT
OR
YET
SO
4. A subordinating conjunction is a word
which joins together a dependent clause
and the rest of the sentence.
Common subordinating conjunctions:
BECAUSE, AS, SINCE, SO,
ALTHOUGH, (even) THOUGH,
WHEREAS, WHILE, AFTER
5. Common Correlative
Conjunctions:
both . . . and
not only . . . but also
not . . . but
either . . . or
neither . . . nor
whether . . . or

Some examples of conjunctions
Correlative conjunctions which are used
in pair are called correlative conjunctions.
