 Kinesthetic awareness or sense and
proprioception are terms that are commonly
interchangeable within most talks amongst
professionals. However , though they
complimentary to each other , there are
distinct differences.
 Kinesthetic Awareness(sense)- external
output of the body's physical awareness and
how we move.
 Proprioception- internal messaging of where
the body is in the space around it allowing
the coordinated patterns to be performed
through the networks of joints, muscles, and
fascia.
 Kinesthetic Awareness is our ability to
perform movements without thinking of the
pattern due to proprioception feedback.
 Vision
 Hearing
 Taste
 Touch
 Smell
 Joints
 Muscles
 Fascia
 Assuming that because we work with
“athletes” the baseline of kinesthetic and
proprioception awareness is naturally set.
 Kinesthetic Learning
 Motor Imagery
 Kinesthetic motor Imagery
 Calisthenics
 Mirror
 PETTLEP model
 Essententially learning hands on.
 Role playing.
 Mental rehearsal of physical activity without
actual physical execution.(Mental reps)
 Not only imagining the performance ( Motor
Imagery) but also actually sensing the
motion.
Typically exercises that uses the body’s weight
as the lifter’s resistance.
 Placing an individual in front of a mirror and
queing on what the lift or exercise should
look like
 The athlete matches the actual performance
in seven aspects.
 Physical,Enviorment,Task,Timing,Learning,
 Emotion, and Perspective (KMI)
 Because proprioception is targeted through
balancing techniques ,various balancing
exercises will train this area.
 Test athlete with Rombergs test
 Test staggard walk (sobriety test)
 Balancing on one leg eyes open and closed
 Peturbation with eyes close
 B52’s
 Standing on one leg with bosu
 Standing on one leg with dynadisc
 Upper body on wobble board, baps, fitter
 Basic, upper, or lower level birdogs
 Increases in injury
prevention
 More awareness of
where athlete is
physically; internally
and externally
 Improvements in
performance
 Reduction in fear of
failing (improvement in
confidence)

Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Explain here why I chose this topic
  2. Talk here about how sometimes we have to step backwards to go forward with those athletes who are not quite up to par.
  3. Kinesthetic learning – going through actual events vs using visual or auditory learning. M
  4. Speak on articles of this
  5. Article discuss 1PP vs 3PP. 1st person perspective vs 3rd person perspsective.
  6. Speak on developing self awareness of ones muscles.
  7. Discuss one line of each
  8. Talk about balance. Recap on where it comes from. Inner ear, Eyes, brain. The name of this system ; vestibular.. Part of the brain for balance – cerebellum.
