Library homework
1. Jonathan showing me what a computer is, and
also how to get to the catalogue. When he got to
the catalogue, he put the title of the book into the
search bar.
2. • Books that are related to
the search, pop up and
then he selected the book
that I said was the one I
wanted.(Lacrosse: A
History of the Game) He
selected it by simply
clicking on the title.
3. • When he clicks on the title it takes
him to another screen that has all kinds
of information about the book.
Information like the author, the
publication date, and also the call
number. The call number for my book is
GV989 F56 2002. The first letter of the
call number indicates which floor to go
to.(A-H is the 2nd Floor, J-Z is the 3rd
Floor) Once we find our floor we have to
find out section or shelf. The shelves are
labeled alphabetically so we look for the
first two letters, that’s the section. The
numbers behind the letters let you
narrow your search in the section.
•
4. • Jonathan leads me up the
stairs to the second floor
where section GV is
located
5. • We get to the second floor
and see this sign. Since GV989
is closer to D150-D529,
alphabetically, we took a
right. We repeat this step
when we approached signs on
the walls.
6. • As you can see we are
getting closer to GV989 so
we continue in the direction
that the sign is leading us.
7. • Finally we see the sign
that indicates that our
book is in that section.
We go down the row
looking for our number.
The numbers range from
883 to 1855 numerically
from left to right.
8. • As you see we are making
progress and getting closer
to 989.
9. • We finally get to 989. We check
the rest of the call number and
the title to confirm. It’s a
match.
