The foundation aims to enhance global healthcare and reduce extreme poverty internationally, and expand educational opportunities and access to information technology in the US. It has provided support for agricultural development, financial services for the poor, water and food, and sanitation and hygiene over the years. As of 2014, the foundation had an endowment of over $44 billion, and Bill Gates had donated $28 billion to the foundation himself.
