2. Sense of Pride and Patriotism
Importance of Discipline and Hard work
Integrity and Accountability
3. It means “love of one's country.”
Stephen Nathanson (1993, 34–35) defines
patriotism as involving:
Special affection for one's own country
A sense of personal identification with the
country
Special concern for the well-being of the
country
Willingness to sacrifice to promote the
country's good
4. We can distinguish three types of patriotism,
which is as follows:
Extreme Patriotism
Moderate Patriotism
Ethical Patriotism
5. This type of patriotism is extreme, but by no
means extremely rare. It is adopted much too
often by politicians and common citizens alike
when their country's major interests are thought
to be at stake.
It is reflected in the saying “our country, right or
wrong,” at least on the simplest and most
obvious construal of this saying. Not much needs
to be said about the moral standing of this type
of patriotism, as it amounts to rejection of
morality. “Our country, right or wrong” cannot be
right.
6. Its characterized by special concern for one’s
country and compatriots, but that will not
prevent one from showing concern for other
countries and their inhabitants.
Moreover, this kind of patriotism allows for
the possibility that under certain
circumstances the concern for human beings
in general will override the concern for one's
country and compatriots. Such patriotism is
compatible with a decent degree of
humanitarianism.
7. By contrast, extreme patriotism gives greater
weight to the (substantial) interests of one's
country and compatriots than to those of
other countries and their inhabitants
whenever these interests come into conflict
8. A patriot of this, distinctively ethical type,
would want to see justice done, rights
respected, human solidarity at work at any
time and in any place. But her patriotism
would be at work in a concern
that her country be guided by these moral
principles and values which is more sustained
and more deeply felt than her concern that
these principles and values should be put into
practice generally.
9. Unlike a patriot of the more worldly type, she
might not feel great pride in her country's
worldly merits and achievements. She would
be proud of the country's moral record, when
it inspires pride.
10. Discipline means abiding by certain rules or
norms of social life. It is a way of life, where
one tries to be on time and live in a
systematic way.
11. Being focused: Being disciplined helps one
stay focused towards his work, activities or
goals. A person with strong goals are more
focused and keep up to work in time in
everyday life. vice-verse any one with
discipline has to keep his mind focused on
his work or goals avoiding mental
disturbances. If not he cannot complete his
work in time and also be undisciplined.
12. Respect by others: Discipline helps command
respect from others. Many struggle to gain
respect from others in the workplace. But the
easiest way to get respect is to be disciplined.
People around and also the sub-ordinates
respect a person who is disciplined.
13. Stay healthy: Disciplined life includes regular
habits like taking food, medicine (if any),
having bath, exercise, waking and sleeping at
right time. Exercise and other regular habits
will tune the body and mind so well that
always the person remains healthy. Even in
case of chronic disease taking medicines at
regular time helps get well soon. Having food
in time is very important because even food
is also a medicine. Read the importance of
food for life.
14. Stay active: Discipline is a way of positive
outlook to life. There is an enthusiasm and
self confidence from within. So it keeps one
active and not lazy instead.
Notice any one who is disciplined, he/ she is
always active in comparison to others. Also
due to disciplined habits like having food,
sleep and exercise regularly, they stay active
whole of the day.
15. Get things done & be happy: Being
disciplined helps get things done faster and
in right time. Though some things happen
late due to other factors, still one with
discipline gets them done faster than others
due to his self discipline like being on time.
So this leads to peace of mind and keeps one
happier.
16. Have more time in a day: A disciplined
person have more time in a day than an
undisciplined person. So more time means
there is more chance to do extra works or
other pending works. We can overcome
procrastination and laziness in work.
17. Stay stress free: One has tension during
exam or daily routine work. This is an internal
anxiety or unknown fear about the outcome
of the work. Staying disciplined helps one
study well in advance and not just before
exams so he remains tension free. If it is a
work place, due to discipline the work is
planned well and executed in time so there is
no stress. So discipline helps one stay stress
free rise your self esteem and also get out of
possible depression.
18. Understand its importance in your life.
Become aware of your undisciplined behavior and
its consequences. When this awareness increases,
you will be more convinced of the need to make a
change in your life.
Make the effort to act and behave according to
the decisions you make, regardless of laziness,
the tendency to procrastinate, or the desire to
give up and stop what you are doing.
You can strengthen your self disciple, even if it is
currently weak, with the help of strong will
power.
