2. My name is Colin Rudicil. I am 25 years old
and from Champaign, Illinois. Whether it was
watching or playing, as far back as I can
remember sports has been the focal point of
my life. It only makes sense to turn that love
and passion of sports into a career in
sportscasting! I have a notable speaking
voice and can deliver sport’s information in
my own entertaining way. I also have prior
experience announcing high school baseball
games and have two original podcasts. My
goal is to soak in as much information as I
can here at Full Sail and make connections
with students and faculty that are
meaningful to my growth as a future
sportscaster. In the end, I’d love to be a
play-by-play broadcaster either in the NFL or
the NBA.
IDENTITY
3. PROFESSION
Potential Job Titles:
•NFL Broadcaster
•NBA Broadcaster
•Play-By-Play Announcer
BRAND ARCHETYPE – In the
simplest terms, a game is meant for
entertainment. As a broadcaster, my
goal is to add to the entertainment
by calling the games in an enjoyable
way. I would do this by being my
candid self and focus on the flow of
the broadcast being easily
understandable for all
viewers/listeners.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Tom Marcum
Outreach Plan:
• I will take the time to make a demo reel on how I can
cover his sport’s teams..
• For initial contact, I will send an email explaining my
position, and ask for an opportunity to talk on the
phone or in person.
• As soon as he returns my email, I will work as soon as
possible to set up a time to talk that is in his schedule.
Athletic Director at Lisle
High School
Paul Nelson
Outreach Plan:
• I will go to a game and see first hand what they’re
team looks like and use it as a way to break the ice.
• For initial contact, I would call the athletics department
at Benedictine and ask to speak with Mr. Nelson
• Hopefully I would be able to come see him at a football
practice happening the following week.

Benedictine University
Trish Zuro

5. GOALS
Short Term: (Immediately After Graduation, 2022)
• Land a job to build my resume and provide experience
‣ Within the next year at Full Sail, have many examples of my work
through different high schools, colleges, and semi-professional teams
that I have covered stories on or called games for. Also have a strong
networking cast that can write me recommendations for said job. I
can achieve this by growing my LinkedIn followers by 100.
Mid Term: (2028)
• Be in a professional broadcasting organization covering football or basketball
‣ In a 6-year span, I want to be comfortable calling sports games and
have made a small following for myself. I will continue to network and
connect with people who can help me punch through the glass-ceiling
and add to my demo reel to send out to the major organizations for an
opportunity. My goal is to reach out to at least 5 of the major
networks and be able to send them my demo reel.
Long Term: (2032)
• Be a broadcaster on national television covering football or basketball
‣ I will show that I can go above and beyond to doing my job and show
my employer that I will always follow through with whatever they ask.
I’ll get opportunities to fill in for a day or two as a broadcaster and
make the most of those opportunities. Finally, I will be open to all
criticism and help that is provided to me by those in the position that I
want to be in. My goal is to say I’ve called over 500 total games to
show how ready I am for the next level.

11. BRAND POSITION
For sports networks who need strong, talented
broadcasters, I provide entertainment and
knowledge in sports because I will work harder
and practice until I am as sufficient as I can be
because this is my dream.

12. NETWORKING &
MARKETING
Industry Events & Organizations
• Sportscasters Mentoring Group
• American Sportscasters Association
• National Sports Media Association
Digital Marketing
• Primary Content: Podcast
• Primary Tools: Daily posts and weekly uploads on Twitter,
Instagram, and Facebook
• Website: I will use my digital portfolio to promote myself and
give potential employers and followers alike a glimpse of who
I am.
13. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Mentor
• I want a mentor who has succeeded in a similar career
path. Not only that, but they did it in their own unique
way and blazed a new trail.
Formal Education
• Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting, B.A. Full Sail
University.
Technical Skills
• Vocalization: I will be taking vocal skills training at Full
Sail while I seek my degree. I want to be able to
annunciate and flow without any hesitation. I want my
audience to be able to understand and follow
everything that I am saying while I am reporting.
• Teleprompter: Many classes at Full Sail require
teleprompter work as do many jobs in sportscasting. I
want to be able to follow a teleprompter without losing
my spot and be able to keep up with it. I also want to
get to the point where it isn’t obvious, I am reading off
it.
• Research: Research makes sports programs more
entertaining. I want to be well versed in whatever I am
covering so I can provide facts and background to
make the content even more enjoyable.
Soft Skills
• Time Management: Obviously managing time is a
crucial asset in sportscasting. I never want to miss a
deadline for a story, and I want to be sure that I am
ahead of the game, so I still have free time for family
and friends.
• Ability to take directions: There are going to be
producers, directors, and coworkers constantly giving
instruction and it is imperative that I can take it all on
the run.
• Adaptability: Things in the sports world change in a
second and you must be ready to change with it. I want
to reach a point that I can adjust anything I am saying
on the fly to keep up with the ever-changing world of
sports.
