Hi everyone, my name is Wai-Wan Ho, and this is my PowerPoint game about effective communication, enjoy!
Effective communication is basically getting everyone to communicate with each other, but in a calm and simple manner. You should try to make sure that you’re understandable when you speak, if you speak quietly then people won’t be able to hear you or they can partially hear you and could cause some misunderstandings because they couldn’t hear you properly. If you’re just rumbling words, some people would just think you’re unprofessional or think it’s a joke, you should try to calm yourself down and then talk clearly so people will understand what you’re saying. Shouting and screaming is just out of the question, it’s rude to shout at someone because they’ll think that you don’t like them, or you just like to shout. By speaking loud and clear, people would understand you well, they know that you’re confident when you speak and also they understand everything that you said.
By asking an open ended question, this allows the other person to answer freely without having any limitations on what they have to answer, such as “what are you doing today?”, and you answer by “I’m good” or “I’m alright”.
These are questions with only limited answers, things asked such as “Do you like something to eat?” or “What would like a drink?”.
These types of questions are mostly found in questionnaires, with limited answers given such as Yes or No, or if there are questions like “What is your favourite colour?”. There is another name for a scaled question, and it’s proper name is Likert Scale. A likert scale
You should always make a good impression if you’re either meeting new people, or if you’re going to a job interview. To make a good impression, you should dress smartly, make sure to speak loud and clear, be confident in yourself and don’t use any slang or rude language.
In different cultures, sign languages could be offensive, so you should always try to refrain yourself from moving your hands a lot. If they’re talking a bit too quiet, you should ask them to speak a little loud so you can understand, but don’t ask them to constantly repeat themselves because they would think you’re making fun of them for talking funny. Don’t try to say something in their own language if they’re not from the same country you’re from, as some people would think that’s rude and offensive.
It’s rude to constantly shout at someone as they would think that they aren’t able to hear you, so it’s best speak loud and clear, if you’re nervous and you stutter, it’s fine, but make sure that you talk clear.
Al fresco has different meanings, it could mean prison, or dining outside.
This is just talking about how you can misuse the words there or where or to/too/two. Some people can’t get their words right so if you’re typing a document, make sure that your grammar is correct. There means place, or where something is, “your phone is over there”. Their means ones belonging, such as “that room is theirs”. They’re is 2 words, “they” and “are”, which is used in sentences such as “they’re over there.”
If you’re talking to a friend it’s fine because they know you and understand what you’re talking about, but if you’re in a business you would want to write in a formal matter.
