WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?
Occupational therapy (OT) is the science of evaluation and treatment to develop, recover and maintain the daily
living and skills of people with a physical, mental, or cognitive disorder. The profession places a stress on fields of
involvement such as ergonomics, and variation of work and educational environments. You’ll find occupational
therapists providing their services in hospitals, schools, government and community settings. They can also practice
privately.
Occupational therapists work with people who struggle to participate as an active member of the society; but are
limited due to physical, developmental, cognitive, or emotional difficulties. Physical therapists help out people in
learning skills for living self-sufficient, creative and satisfying lives. They’re trained in physical therapy continuing
education to provide assistance to perform everyday activities in which people participate. Occupational therapists
design courses that are meaningful to the patients all the way through an understanding of the individual's needs.
