Target audience – aspirational - 16 -
25 years old
Healthy food magazine (#1) - audience aspire to make healthy meals
- recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner – using healthy ingredients
to improve or maintain a healthy lifestyle
Feel good food magazine (#2) - audience aspire to enjoy
stereotypically 'unhealthy' food such as sweet snacks, cakes,
puddings etc. - this magazine will allow them to still have these but in
a healthier way/lifestyle for example : vegan, low calories, less sugar,
natural, food supplements, alternatives
These ideas will appeal to my target audience because they are
young and aspire to stay fit and healthy – it is almost a trend in
this age group to work out and eat healthy. In 2022 currently there
is a rise in veganism in younger people for healthy and moral
reasons and it has almost become an expectation for more and
more places to cater for a variety of groups. Alternate options are
popular now.

Audience research for magazine cover -
ideas
My audience research shows that more people
aged in between 16 and 25 prefer to see
aesthetic photos of food – without the
involvement or featured person/ model,
therefore I think it is a good, well-researched
idea for a front cover-based idea
I will then include my modelled photos along
the bottom of the image framing the
food (magazine cover idea 1)
– people in this age range spend lots
of time everyday online and socials,
on instagram for example it is popular
to post pictures of your aesthetic
looking food, fitting with my cover idea
1
The mis en scene will be different for my
second magazine – with a model on the front
as seen in the pictures above. And then on
the contenst and boarder will be pictures of
food and the recipes/contents/etc.

Audience Research cover ideas
For my Cover 2 idea I am going to use models as the main focus (on
cover 1 it is the food as the main image).
I am going to use models around the age of 18 to appeal to my target
audience. A young person is more likely to buy a magazine if they see
themselves reflected in the content e.eg the cover is the first thing you
see.
My models will be bordered with appealing food/dishes that will have
links or captions to the inside of the magazine making readers want to
buy the magazine to view the recipe seen on the front.
I am going got use male and female models to reach a wider and
diverse audience.

Target
I want my food magazines to appeal to the LIFESYLES of young
people aged between 16 and 25.
My research shows that people within this age group commonly
have gym memberships and are big on keeping fit or taking part
in a sport, I want my food magazines to include a section and
diet plans to match your workout etc.

Facts – researched
18-34 year olds hold the majority of gym memberships in the UK – 60.60%
Average age to join the gym – 17/18
the rise of veganism in the UK is continuing on its upwards trajectory, seeing a 40% increase over the last 12 months.
30% of Gen Z (between 18 and 23 years old) said they plan to go without meat, compared with just 5% of Baby boomers.
The age group 16 to 25 is the prime group of people studying at University - therefore money is often tight and home
budget meals are needed - a healthy option would be appealing.
As well as this, due to the University or new job, apprenticeship schedules of this busy age group - fast snacks and meals
are also be popular – easy and quick or even pre-prepared
Why healthy ? - fast and cheap meals or snacks are often processed, take away/fast food or shop bought – this can lead
to bad habits or over spending – this age group want healthy versions, easy to throw together at home, on a home budget
– this magazine will therefore appeal.
Energising, fuel fixes will appeal here.
Brain foods for study

I also want my magazines to reach all areas of my target
audience – often some minority groups are forgotten such
as diabetics or celiac people. These illnesses affects people
with them from a young age so a magazine including sugar free,
gluten free, keto diets plans and other diet plans will extend the
reach of my magazine to young people dealing with their diets.
People aged between 16 and 25 are often buying homes,
studying and starting their ow lives – this also means taking their
diet into their own hands more – especially when living alone for
the first time.
8. z
Drinks – can have a small mention
Cut down on caffeine – better for study
Alcohol free – the lower end of my category (16-17) cannot drink
so a small section on non-alcoholic beverages can be included –
but also some people don’t drink for health reasons and it is
common for the age groups 16-25 to be partying or going out for
dinner or drinks so these drinks can also be useful
