7. La dégradation des terres est un problème qui
aujourd’hui compromet le développement et
même le survie de la population et six
phénomènes de dégradation ont été observés
La dégradation du couvert végétal: elle est de
loin le phénomène le plus important et est due à
la culture itinérante sur brulis, à l’action des
troupeaux transhumants, à l’exploitation
forestière (production de bois pour l’énergie
domestique, les constructions et les meubles)
et aux feux de végétation

8. L’érosion hydrique qui se manifeste dans les
champs cultivés sans mesure de conservation,
dans les zones d’habitation et sur les bordures
des cours d’eau
L’érosion éolienne qui se manifeste dans le nord
Bénin à tendance sahélienne
La perte de la fertilité de toutes les terres
cultivées due à la mauvaise gestion des terres
par suite du niveau technologique encore faible
des paysans

9. La dégradation physique est la
conséquence des érosions mettant à nu les
horizons inférieurs et de la surexploitation
des terres qui entraine la perte de la fertilité
des sols et parfois leur acidification

10. La carte des sols au Bénin est à l’échelle de
1/200.000 et a été réalisée entre 1968 et 1969
•Il est donc impérieux de REFAIRE CETTE CARTE
des SOLS afin de mieux statuer sur leurs
caractéristiques
•Mieux circonscrire les sols dégradés dans les
différentes zones agro-écologiques
•Corriger les déficiences des sols en éléments
nutritifs pour une bonne sécurité alimentaire en:
