The Presentation file included what is nuclear power, Type of nuclear reaction, how a nuclear power-plant works, advantages & disadvantages of nuclear power, information about nuclear powered states, information about states with nuclear states and so on
4. Nuclear Fusion and Fission
Nuclear Fusion
Small nuclei into large
Immense temperature
and pressure
Core of stars
Nuclear Fission
Large nuclei into small
Critical mass to sustain
Two isotopes we use
8. If we will know the advantage and disadvantage of
Nuclear power, it will be easier to us to understand
the future of Nuclear power.
9. Advantages of Nuclear Power
1. Clean
Nuclear power plant do not
produce CO2. So Green
House effect can be
reduced by transforming
fossil power plant to
nuclear power plant.
10. 2. Plentiful Supply
Nuclear power plant has a
plentiful supply of energy.
The electricity supply of the
developed countries are
depend on nuclear power. It
can reduce the price of other
fossil fuels like petrol, gas etc.
11. 3. Fuel of Nuclear power.
Fuel: Uranium(235).
*Small fuel pellet.
*Energy savings in transportation.
*Can be found from anywhere.
12. 4. Low operating cost.
Operating cost of a
nuclear power plant is
very low after
construction.
13. Disadvantages of Nuclear Power
1. High initial construction
cost:
$4 Million for a 1 Mega-Watt power plant.
**For constructing RUPPUR Nuclear
power plant Bangladesh govt. need to
spend ($4 million*2000MW) = 8 Billion
The sequence of events…
2015 Decide to build a nuclear
station
2020 Get permission to go ahead
2021 Start building the station
2025 Start selling electricity
2085 Stop selling electricity
2086 Start paying for the clean-up
14. 2. Radioactive waste
byproduct
The waste of a Nuclear
power plant is very
few, But they are radio
active. The radiation of
those product can
create many kind of
new disease.
15. 3. Misuse of the power.

17. 4. Accidents in Nuclear Power Plant
Sometimes accidents may
occurs in Nuclear power
plant by blasting the
plant’s core. It may occurs
for the faulty instruments
or faulty maintenance.
18. Satellite view of the accident of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear
power plant
19. 5. Public perception
120,000 people attended an
anti-nuclear protest in Bonn,
Germany on October 14,
1979, following the Three
Mile Island accident.
20. Nuclear (fission) power stations provided 11% of the world's
electricity.
In 2013, the IAEA reported that there are 437 operational
civil fission-electric reactors in 31 countries.
France is the largest user of nuclear energy, deriving 75%
of its electricity from fission.
In 2015, the IAEA report that worldwide there were 67 civil
fission-electric power reactors under construction in 15
countries including Gulf States such as the United Arab
Emirates (UAE).
Over half of the 67 total being built are in Asia, with 28
in the People’s Republic of China(PRC).
21. Lists of states with nuclear weapon
►NPT-designated nuclear weapon states (China,
France, Russia, United Kingdom and United
States). These five states are also the UN
Security Council's permanent members with veto
power.
►Other states with nuclear weapons (India,
Pakistan and North Korea)
►Other states thought to have nuclear weapons
(Israel)
►NATO nuclear weapons sharing states (Belgium,
Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Turkey)
►States formerly possessing nuclear weapons
(Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, South Africa)
26. Of the 15 methods (wedges) proposed by a Princeton University study to
stabilize Carbon Dioxide emissions, 13 of them relate energy use.
Implementation of any 7 would accomplish the goal of stabilizing
emissions.
1. Efficient vehicles
2. Reduced use of vehicles
3. Efficient buildings
4. Efficient coal power plants
5. Gas instead of coal power plants
6. Capture CO2 at base load power plant
7. Nuclear power for coal power
8. Wind power for coal power
9. Photovoltaic power for coal power
10. Capture CO2 at H2 plant
11. Capture CO2 at coal-to-synfuels plant
12. Wind H2 in fuel-cell car for gasoline in hybrid car
13. Biomass fuel for fossil fuel
