People are self centred and only care about themselves, everybody is rude and awful to one
another in some shape or form. One day they all go to sleep and then the next morning they
wake up and the world is now without colour and sound. They then have to work together and
be nice to one another to be able to form some way to communicate and try and fix the problem
and go back to colour and sound. After a few days nothing happens and then as they are nicer
genuinely nicer to each other the world slowly day back day goes back to colour and then finally
one night they go to sleep and they wake up and the world is back to how it was in full colour
and sound. Thinking that the problem is over and there is nothing to worry about again they go
back to how they were before everything happened and they start to go back to their old ways,
then again they go to sleep and wake up and the world is in without colour and sound again but
no matter how much they try and be nicer to each other it won't work because they didn't learn
their lesson.
I chose this idea/concept because I felt that working around the idea of a moral would be easy
to base around a 5 mintue time frame as it has a clear being and a definitive end. So that
everyone will know that it’s a short film and isn't apart of anything thing else or is it a prequel or
sequel. I also felt that by having a moral and a very small cast it was easier to tell the story
visual rather than from a verbal narrative stand point as everything will be much more detailed
and contained. I also have several ideas but when pitching them to my friends and peers that
was the only story that I felt confident that I could not only creative but also tell the story.
Furthermore it was the only idea that I had that I could complete the Dan Harmon's circle theory
with confidence that not only would the story make sense but I would be able to create the story
and it be enjoyable from an audience/viewer stand point. So due to all these factors it became
clear that this was the best opotion on all parts to go ahead with production and start to plan
and write the script for.

6. COSTUME
For this film the costume will play a major role in how the story is told and visually explained. The
costume of each characters will help not only to inform the audience of a change in time
alongside the use of montages but also to show the difference in the character and their arc.
For example at the start of the short film I would like all the characters to have rather plain
clothing, and it to be monotone colours. What I mean by this is that I want the costumes to be
black, grey and a dull/worn out white.
At first my initial concept was to have all the characters wear the same colours as they commute
to work everyday to show that each character doesn't really have their own personality, however
after looking over my initial concept and plans while also speaking to the actors. I chose to have
them dressed in very dull colours, as like I mentioned before it allows to show a progression in
time but also due to the age of the cast and characters I also didn't think it would realistic to have
all the characters work at the same place were they will have to wear suits all the time,
The second half of the film will show a progression in change of characters clothes from dull to
bright. However I don’t want the transition to be as straightforward and dramatic as I want it to
show visually the progression in the characters and how they act. Therefore I want them to slowly
start wearing patterned clothes and maybe have accessories that they didn't have before to make
it look more visually appealing in contrast and they towards the end of the film layer the patterned
clothes together with brighter clothes to show a much more different and individual personality for
the characters, I however don’t want it to be comedic in the sense that they will walk out wearing
mixed match knee high multicoloured socks or anything as flamboyant I want to be more of a
visual story telling. So this means that the colours will reflect the person but also symbolise the
change. So I would include warm colours such as bright white, yellow for the clothes. This is due
to the visual connotations of theses colours and how they will reflect to the characters actions
and thoughts now in contrast to at the start of the film.

9. LOCATION
When looking at short films I realized that for the majority of them locations within the short films are
usually limited to one area/space. Or if the location does change it is still based within the same area.
For example within a shopping centre and then later on in the film they are within the car park for said
shopping centre.
So therefore I would like to look at possibly have only one location for my short film project. This would
make more sense from a production management stand point as it would allow for me to keep costs
down but also mange all the actors and even the direction of the script. It also allows for the story to be
contained and not become visually over complicated and therefore have implications on the visual
narrative.
Due to the nature of the story that I am trying to tell with the moral and the direction that I wish for the
narrative to take, the location needs to be central to the characters lives so that they are able to meet up
and make contact and interact with each other without it looking forced or making no narrative sense.
This is on of the reasons that I have chose to pick a culd ed sac or housing estate so it is a closed
location that will explain why all the characters are together without having to include this as part of the
narrative or script but also the location itself is very contacted so it makes it easier to work with and
block as part of a storyboard process.
I have looked at several different locations to which I think are suitable to work with and tell the story but
I will need to wait back on my cast/actors as the locations all depend on who I will be filming and there
mood of transport.
There will also be the use of the studio as part of the locations which I will be using as part of the extras,
this helps to make it easier for the editing purposes the VFX that I wish to include within the film but it is
also a central location that all the cast and actors are able to access and I know that I could book the
studio and it will be available to cast, crew and myself for the concept that I wish to film.

10. LOOK/STYLE
When thinking over this film and the concept due to the fact that I want the moral to be an overall factor within
the film. The look and style of the film is very important as it shows visually want I hopefully trying to convey
through the narrative.
As I explained during the costume the film will have two different looks and styles that will help to convey the
change in the characters as the story progresses. Not only will this be shown through costume but also
through the mise-en-scene and over visuals.
For example at the start of the film I will frame and block all the scenes so that everything feels much tighter
and claustrophobic so that the audience will hopefully feel the tension between the characters. Then towards
the end of the film the shots will be a lot open and wider.
Not only the spacing and blocking of the shots but the visual effects that will be done during the editing
process will play a role into the style and look of the film and how I wish for the visual style to help tell the
story. (This is because I want dialogue within the film but I don't want a lot I want the visual narrative to play a
prominent part of the film/story). So for example during the start of the film I will use software such as after
effects and premier pro to make the scenes/shot look a lot more darker than they actually are, maybe add
clouds and rain in certain scenes using the pathetic fallacy to further emphases the dislike for characters at
the start.
The second half of the film will be much brighter I will use the same adobe software as before to add sunshine
to make it all brighter.
No only will I be using costume and visual effects to make emphases the visual style/look but I will be trying to
include dress codes and visual facial expression as well. For example at the start of the film I want it to have a
tight claustrophobic feel towards it therefore I want the characters to curl inwards to themselves and walk
hunched over and have bad posture but I also want them to scowl and look as if they are unhappy and would
rather be somewhere else. I would also like them to walk with a sluggish effect but not over dramatic. The
second half of the film will contradict this by having them stand up straight and walk with a spring in their step.
The characters will also smile more and there movements with be more fluid. There will also be more hand
movement with the characters are talking to show of more of there personality. I will also try and include more
characters within each shot/frame where as in the start of the film predominately the shots are isolated to link
in with the tightness and framing of the shots.

11. PRIMARY TARGET
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
You MUST conduct a questionnaire/survey/interview or a combination of all three.
Summarise this and add in any other primary research you feel is appropriate.
For my primary research I used survey monkey to create a survey with specific
questions that I can use to influence and justify my reasoning for the choices for my film.
Therefore the questions I tried to tailor to the answers that I wanted so that that I knew
that I could use the information that I will gain from this research to my advantage and it
be useful in the production of this short film.
I posted the survey online and gave it to peers within my class this meant that the
answers where also going to be distributed between roughly if not all the same age
range as myself and my intended target audience of 16-20. By posting the survey online
it also meant that people online could also share the survey with their friends and
followers as well so that this survey will get a much wider platform distribution. Which in
turn helps with this primary research as the more people at that answer the wider the
scale of research is and therefore the more reliable the actual answers are.
I have further analysed all the questions that I got the participants to answer and how
their answers will affect the rate of production and if due to their answers I will have to
make any accommodations in terms of narrative structure or visual effects.

12. I asked this question because I
wanted the characters to be relatable
to the audience and this meant that I
would write the script in accordance to
the audience or I would have the
actors/characters casted the same
age as the target audience. The
overall response was that of the age
of 16-19. This could be seen as bias
due to the fact that I have asked my
peers in my class to complete the
survey and asked them to ask their
friends to complete.
100% of the answers for this
question responded with the
answer yes. This is a good thing
for my idea/concept as my whole
short film is based around the
moral and not learning a lesson
and a moral is the key part of the
genre, fantasy, that I have
chosen for this film.

13. 100% of the participants of this survey answered yes to this particular question. This
was a good in terms of my research because I have pitched/created a concept with
the idea that the visual aspects play a huge part in the story and therefore the film
itself doesn't have to relay so heavily on the dialogue as much, as hopefully the
visual connotations will further empathies and contribute to moving the narrative
forward as well as telling the story in more detail.

14. This answer got mixed results, this helps in terms of proving that this survey was bias. The
majority of the answers however were that there should be a limit to the number of characters
within a short film. Which is the answer that I was hoping the participants would pick. This is due
to a number of reasons, from casting to actual productivity that would get done with a larger cast.
By having the answer yes to this unparticular question it also meant that this can be used to
argue when writing my script the reason for there being a small ensemble of cast/actors. Not
only that but I feel that by having a smaller cast it also makes the moral seem more personal as
the effects of the characters actions are much more intense as they aren't being shown how they
affect people on a wider scale. Which also links in nicely as part of how I want at the start of the
film when the characters actions are less than honorable that there will be a tighter feel to the
shots and a quickness in pace.

15. Again with this question the majority response was yes. This means that my target audience
believe that the location is a key part of the narrative for helping to tell a story. Due to nature of
the storyline and how I would like to explore to concept of incorporating a moral within the story
alongside the fact that the target audience have also said that the number of actors within a film
is important as well, I will be only having one main location as part of my film. This is for many
reason, like mentioned liking back to small cast but also by keeping the location contained it
means you can focus more on the story telling aspect rather than the change in location which
helps to speed the narrative process up and keeps the audience more stimulated within the film,
as you can skip all the establishing shots and dialogue between different locations. As well as
considering this is a short film of around 5 minutes this allows again for the focus to be on the
story more than anything else.

16. Because I want to base my short film
around the concept of a moral, I
wanted to know the audiences opinion
about what would make a character
more redeemable on screen for them
after they have witnessed them using
rather unsocial behaviour. There were
mixed responses and not everyone
answered but that is to be expected
due to the type of research this is and
the survey is also anonymous as well.
By asking this question as well it also
puts it into more of an understanding
for me as well because as mentioned
with the first question of this survey the
target audience answering are also my
target audience for my short film as
well. So therefore there opinion has
much more influence in terms of how I
am going to proceed in writing the
script later in the production process.
The majority of the responses are
about the character acknowledging
what they have done and knowing that
it is wrong to them having to ask the
other person for forgiveness. This is
something that I can incorporate as
part of Dan Harmon's Story Circle to
help with the writing progress.

17. Overall the responses for this question about whether the gender mattered or not to the
audience was no. This for me on a production stand point worked to my advantaged as it meant
I did not have to limit myself when writing the characters but also in terms of casting and
looking for actors I wouldn't have any limits in terms of audience appeal about who they would
prefer. As part of my initial idea I wanted to have two/three different main characters but I think
I'll stick to two main characters but because there wasn't much difference between the yes
responses and the no responese for this question, I will consider having both a male and
female protagonist as part of the story/film. This way not only can I appease both sides but also
I can use this to market and appeal the film to a wider audience and explore the story in more
ways rather than restricting myself.

18. This answer had split views for my audience, half of them thought that a clear ending
was the best way to end the film while others thought that being able to interpret the
ending in your own personal way was better, while nobody wished for the ending to
be open. Again this works in my favor by not having an open ending as it means I
can explain to the audience about the moral of the story more and the fact that there
are consequences for your actions, hence the name/title of my film being
"Consequences". This is just my primary research so after conferring both my
primary and my secondary research together I could come up with a more
definitive ending and justify my reasoning in a much more formidable way but at least
I have a better understanding of what the audience's wants in terms of the films
ending and can plan the structure/breakdown of my short film in accordance.

19. SECONDARY TARGET
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
As part of my research I looked both at short films as a whole and the
difference audiences that were associated as well as target audience
for fantasy genre films as a whole as well.
I looked at short films more so that had a moral within them then
anything. One of the things that also links in with my primary research
that I found was that most of the short films no matter of the genre
where all set within one location, so this is something that I will take
into consideration when planning my actual film in terms of location
and how this will fit within the script as part of the narrative. Examples
include The Present and Geri's Game.
I also found out online that although short films tend to fairly gender
neutral in terms of who they are appealing towards due to the fact
that more women are studying and linked to studying a creative
subject short films tend to aimed slightly more towards them in the
sense of making the storyline or the message of the film more
emotional. Also you will find because of this there will be less of the
Male Glaze (Theory) within short films.
This works well then due to my film concept not targeting a specific
gender in terms of market appeal and as such my target audience
therefore as my target audience is of mixed gender there won't be an
issue. This is also one of the reasons in which I am having both a
female and a male man character/protagonist to make the
representation equal and show the audience that both genders can
be as equally as awful and subsequently both as nice to each other.

20. SECONDARY TARGET
AUDIENCE RESEARCH
I found from my secondary research that fantasy blockbuster films tend to be made from
book adaptations and have sequels and prequels as part of the franchise. For example,
Lord of the Rings and Narnia as well as Harry Potter.
When looking at the target audience for each of these franchise I found that they were all
different, from the original films target audience/demographic to the overall target audience
and demographic. For Example Lord of the Rings has a much wider and broader target
audience and therefore a much older target audience than The Chronicles of Narnia that is
not to say however that both films weren't successful. You can see this however the
narrative and the structure of the both franchises with Lord of The Rings being much more
darker than the other fracnhise it also I believe takes into account the length of the films
themselves. Lord of the rings are very long films just as they are very long books as well
and therefore a younger audience will not be able to comprehend the darker and more
mature narrative and subplots within the film and keep their attention span unlike with The
chronicles of Narnia the films are of a much more reasonable length and the books are not
considered to be that extreme.
This is something that I will take into account with my own short film, due to me making the
film a 12a which Lord of the Rings is as well, by having the film shorter it does mean that I
can keep a younger audience more entertained as they don't have to be visual simulated
for a long length of time.

21. IDENTIFY TARGET
AUDIENCE
Looking over my research from both my primary and secondary I can conclude the
overall the target age range from this short film will be target to 16-19 year olds
and the gender spilt will be equal. Although from my primary research I didn't ask
about the audiences gender from my secondary research I found that the gender
was spilt depending on the genre of the short films but also on the length of the
films as well.
In terms of psychographics the target audience will be "Aspires" and "Reformers"
due to the audience being young in age and also the nature of the story and social
awareness. Both of these aspects of aspires and reformers as some of the
underlying themes and tones present within the film, about imagine and status with
a community but also about personal growth and judgment. Alongside this by
having the characters played by people the same age or close age range to the
audience this should help to reinforce and encourage the story moral and have
more of an impact into the message that the film is trying to convey.

22. AUDIENCE APPROPRIATE
CONTENT
Using the BBFC guideline online I found that my film will be a 12/12a rating. This is due
to a number of reasons. One of them is Imitable behaviour. The screenshot denotes
what the guideline on the BBFC for imitable behaviour. The film won't endorse anti-
social behaviour although that is present but it will be explained through the narrative
that the characters actions in which they were shown with that behaviour is not
acceptable behaviour. One of the reasons that the film can't be a PG is that within the
section of behaviour it states that there can be "No focus on anti-social behaviour"
The guideline also mentions issues such as discrimination, threat and violence
which will be present within my film as part of the narrative however I follow the
guidelines of the each stated section and therefore that is the reason in which this
film will be a 12/12a.

23. PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES
RESEARCH
In terms of editing and how I wanted the overall film to look I took inspiration from
different sources for the type of shots that I wanted to use. For example I want to
use a fast pace of cut shots at the start of the film to show the progression of time
but also to signify that it is a new day. When looking online I found a lot of Edgar
Wright's work in reference to fast cutting rate and shots. Looking further into this I
liked the use of this of shots within Hot Fuzz as part of Wright's work that not only
created the fast cutting pace but also the close up use of shots, which is
something that I wanted to use to create tension at the start of the film. I was
thinking about taking inspiration from Wright's work more specifically with Shaun
of the Dead with Shaun getting reading. Within the video link below it breaks down
all of his work of fast cuts from getting ready, which is what I will be using to
opening and closing a scene.

In terms of special effects I also went online and found YouTube tutorials to
experiment with VFX that I wanted to use that at the time of this production I didn't
know how to achieve. For example I found a tutorial online to make a black and
white effect from colour.

A technique that I will be using within my short film is the use of a flashback as a
device for the audience at the start of the film to dislike the character due to their
actions shown via this sequence and create the start of a character arc.
Flashbacks are typically used as a narrative device to give the audience crucial
information and context and I will be using this technique within my film for that
very reason. I will make it distinctively clear to the audience that the events within
the flashback's happening are actions from the character in the past due to a
number of factors such as the absence of mise-en-scene, and the difference in
dress code to what the character is wearing at the time they are being show to
what they are wearing in the flashback for continuity purposes as well.

24. PRODUCTION TEST – VFX COLOUR
One of the main visual features as part of my film is the VFX and the
fact that the characters, location with change black and white as the
storyline progress. I looked at several different ways in which I could
do this both with help from peers with my class and online tutorials. As
mentioned before I found YouTube tutorial in which helped me to
make the screen turn from colour to black and white. You can find the
visual test footage on blogger called "Test Colour Video Examples"
With the tutorial that I found it was more about making the scene more
dramatic and sad but that also included adding sound the use of a
small zoom. I however followed most of the steps not all of them to
create or attempt to create the effect I wanted. To create the effect I
had to find a video clip, I used test footage that I filmed earlier in the
studio that day. One I had the footage within After Effects I then went
to effects and pre-sets and applied hue and saturation to the clip.
Then the next step was to use key frames, I had to use the key frame
at the end of the footage and then use master saturation and set that
to –100. This made sure that the ending of the clip would be in black
and white but at the moment it was all black and white, this is because
I had to go to the beginning of the footage within the timeline and set
the key frame at the start, using the same effect (Hue and saturation) I
set the Master Saturation to 0. If I set it any higher it would add to
much colour and make the footage over saturated. This then led to an
effect where the footage was in colour and as the clip progressed the
it would slowly turn black and white. While I was pleased that the clip
worked it wasn't what I wanted or intended for my film. So I continued
to work on looking at different tutiorals however they all came up with
the same method of turning the screen from colour to black and white
or vice versa.

25. PRODUCTION TEST – VFX COLOUR
After a while I got fed up of trying to find tutorials online of how to make the effect that I wanted
so I asked one of my tutors at the time. They suggested using two layers and using the
orientation tool and making the background layer black and white and the top layer in colour and
gradually moving the layer away, this worked to an extent however it didn't give me the look that
I was hoping for so I started to experiment myself in the hope that I could get it to work
somehow. Considering the fact that using two different layers was the closest that I got overall to
the look that I wanted I kept both of them and used a range of different tools to make it work.
Until I finally decided to use the mask tool. By using the mask tool I created a rectangle at the
bottom of the footage and used key frames to mask the path in which the layer underneath
(Black and white footage) would be shown and as each key frame progressed within the time
frame I also made sure that I could increased how high the mask path/rectangle went until the
final key frame was the whole underneath layer being shown. This worked and I was really
happy as it showed both the black and white VFX that I wanted as well as having it gradually
move in the style that I wanted. You can see the difference in terms of visual style o Blogger
where I have shown each colour VFX back to back within the clip called " Test Colour Video
Example". Know that I know how to create this effect and in terms of time constrains it doesn't
take up a lot of time to create the end project, unless anything changes in terms of the visual
narrative or structure I will b using this VFX style and method within my film.

28. CONSTRAINTS ON PRODUCTION
Time:
One of the major constraints and issues of production is time. The main reason for this is
because everyone who I am asking to be apart of my short film in terms of both cast and crew
are either studying at college or university and therefore already have prior and more important
commitments or they are within my class specifically and are making their own short film at the
same time. This made finding a time where we are not a college as a collective hard. Due to
the fact that if members of my cast and crew would eb available but others may not due to
there own filming commitments. This meant that I had to try and break down the schedule even
more then I originally intended. At first I was going to try and make sure that everyone was
filming at on location all at the same time to try and save time and hassle of traveling and
arranging for everyone to get there and back however as I mentioned this wouldn't work out
how I would hope after speaking and trying to arrange with the cast and crew. Therefore I have
gone back and changed the script so there is less speaking/dialogue and I can shoot the
footage I need at different times and even different locations
Cost:
This was actually wasn't a constraint on production. This is due to the fact that cost wasn't an
issue as there was nothing that I need to include or feature within this film or as part of
production that I didn't already have. The only cost was fuel but considering the fact that
traveling from location to location wasn't that far or even an issue cost wasn't really an issue I
took into consideration.

29. CONSTRAINTS ON PRODUCTION
Personnel:
There could be a lot of constraints on production with personnel on this project and I can infer this due to the
fact that there are already issue already when asking people about there involvement within this project/short
film. Not only as I mentioned before there an issue of time and getting everybody together at the same time
at the same location. There are also issues of people cancelling last minute as well as people cancelling then
saying they can help. Another issue that I found that I didn’t consider until I spoke to people, is costume. I
would like for the visuals to be predominant and a huge staple to tell the narrative so therefore I will need
several different costume changes during filming, this isn't to bad during individual film however when I want
people to be filmed together in different scenes I will need them to be wearing the same outfit that they would
have been wearing in a pervious shot and getting be organised or even having them bring the right outfit puts
a constraint on production as that is there reasonability however if they don't for some reason manage to
bring in the same outfit or even an outfit change it does mean that the script might have to be changed to
acodate to fit theses changes if they aren’t able to come back and film.
Technical:
This isn't a issue during the editing process as I believe that I am confident with the skills that I have now to
be able to effectively and efficiently edit the footage into a sequence to create the film that I intended. The
issue will come before the actual filming process during production, which I am actually finding out now how
to create the effects that I want to be within the film and they testing them out before applying them within the
film after the footage has been filmed. There was a couple of concepts and visual effects that using Premier
pro that I wanted to include within my short film however after testing these ideas out I found out that I
couldn’t get them to work in the way and vision that I had intended and it had a taken me a lot of time to
create it for it to be something that I wasn’t happy with therefore I changed this idea and theme within he
script to accommodate these changes. Though on a positive not during production there were some tests that
I test out on some footage that worked out the way that I had hoped and now that I know how it works I can
recreate this look much easier and more efficient during the editing process. Also by having Adobe software
at home on my laptop it does also mean that I am able to work both at college and home on the editing and
post production of this video, the only issue may occur due to the fact that I have the newer, updated version
of adobe compared to that on college computers meaning that some of the effects and edits may not be able
to be transferred or even the file might not be able to be opened and accessed. However if this does happen
I could always bring my laptop to college and work off that to insure that post production doesn't stop and
carries on.

30. CONSTRAINTS ON PRODUCTION
Location:
My concept for my film is very self contained I don’t want more than two locations within my film as
due to it being a short film I believe will over complicate the narrative but also make it harder in terms
of production. Therefore the locations will be very self contained to delimit any outside factors that may
hinder production in anyway. As mentioned before the only real issue or constraint on production that I
could see occurring is the fact that not everybody may be able to get the location on the same day at
the same time, or even get to the location on the same day. This could mean that I will have to change
the script to accommodate these changes or even have to change location to a more central location
so that everybody could access it without issues.
Organisational:
There are lot of constraints on production that organisation can cause but also there are a lot of issues
that constraints of production that organisation can fix. For example I will need to thing ahead as part
of contingency plan as part of the organisation to think of different locations and if I will need to plan
access if my original concept of location falls through for any reason. I will also need to make sure that
all the cast and crew are aware of times and locations as if they aren't this could hinder production in a
lot of ways. Furthermore not only do I need to inform the cast and crew about times and location but I
also need to make sure the cast are aware of the fact that they may need to bring a different costume
and inform them of what I would like them to bring to have a set change to. I also need to make sure
that all production runs on schedule and if for some reason production runs off schedule how I am
able to rectify this and bring it back so that I can still complete this project at the same time as I original
intended but the quality of the work isn’t affected. Organisation of production falls on me solely and
even if the cast for example does not bring the right costume or even turn up then it is my
responsibility to either bring another costume to try and fit the concept that I intend or message them
so that I can arrange a different date for film or even get someone else to film there scenes. What this
means is not only do I need to be aware of the current production schedule but I also need to be
aware of other contingency plans and have them in place for any issues that may occur.

31. PRODUCTION
MANAGEMENT
CONSIDERATIONS
Location is on of the main aspects of this project that I need to focus on as it the central
point of the story. Not only do I need to find the right location for the style of my film but from
this is also need to make sure that the location is accessible not only just for myself but for
the cast and crew as well. I then also need to consider how if getting to one location is
difficult would I be able to shoot everything I need within one day so that I don't have to ask
people to come back so that it will be easier and if not would I be able to change those
aspects as either part of the story or change the elements so that I can film somewhere else
without the film losing continuity when I editing and place all the clips within a sequence.
To get around this I will plan in advance and give everyone amble to so that they are aware, I
will also try and make the location as central as possible for all the cast and crew as that
there shouldn't be a huge strain on travel and therefore travel restrictions that may occur. If
there is a long way to travel for a certain cast or crew member as stated before I could if
applicable to the story and the story telling change this so that I can work on another
location. Due to this I also have to give myself for leniency within the budget to accommodate
for the cast and crew and the expenses that travel cost will aciculate to but also how much
breaks are going to cost as well. This will all depend on the location, the length of travel and
the length it takes between and during each take.

32. MODIFICATIONS AND
REVISED FINAL IDEA
At first I wanted the first half of the film to be heavily in dialogue and the mid and last section of
the film to be dialogue free and focus heavily on the actions of the characters to reinforce the
moral and the point of the story however when talking to cast and crew who I wish to be in my
film and also with my research I found that it would be easier and more efficient to be hardly any
dialogue during the whole film rather than sections, so this was alter and can in affect while
writing the script and conferring with peers within my class. When also completing my Stage
Two production management I found that due to issues with getting cast to the original location
that I changed to move to a different location within York rather than Selby so that every had
access, this meant I could use the drone shots to set the scene with the original location but
areas within he script where I wanted a aerial shot of both characters together in the street
wouldn't work with the current revised location and cast/crew therefore the shots for that scene
will have to be changed to accommodate the change in location. The changes will be made
because when the shots will be put together on a time line, in a sequence it will be more fluid in
terms of location continuity for the audience. Also due to casting restraints that I had I also cut
down the amount of characters/actors that are going to appear within the film, which is
something that I discovered would make the whole production process easier but also because
of my research, I found that most short films have limited actors that appear on screen as it
helps to tell the story more as the audience don’t have to focus and retain so much information
but also with my primary research, the conclusion was that they would prefer a small ensemble
of actors. This was very easy to change within the script and actually helped with storytelling
aspect as it would reinforce the moral of the story but also the character arc. For example rather
than having lots of different actors altogether and making it less personal by having a smaller
cast it means that I can utilise this to my advantage by having the character be mean to them at
the start and then nice to that same character later on.
