INQUIRES LOGIC
Have a wish or desire to know
something
Argument - A fact or assertion
offered as evidence that something
is true
Logic - The principles that guide
reasoning within a given field or
situation
BY: ROPER T. GAMALI., LPT
All men by virtue of their ability to WONDER, to
INQUIRE and to seek ANSWER to their DOUBT
and PERPLEXITIES, are potential philosophers.
… is the moral courage to
pursue the truth wherever
it may lead, regardless of
ancient verities and
sanctities.
…… is a man
willing to listen to
every suggestion.
TRUTH
“primary object” of philosophical inquiry.
What is truth? Three schools of thought:
1. Dogmatic: there is an absolute truth, of which we can have
complete knowledge, that will in turn justify us in claiming that no
other position matters.
2. Relativistic: there is no absolute truth, only arbitrary positions
hampered by their own historical limits.
3) Regulative: there is an absolute truth that leads us as the
horizon guides the explorer: on a never-ending journey towards it.
Activity 1
Examine the existence of ball pen
Between Knowing That… and Know Why
QUIZ
Identify the following either Wonder or Doubt. Write your answer
on the space provided.
________ 1. When we begin to call into question what we have
been taught to believe.
________ 2. When we experience the limits of our understanding
we encounter proof of our ignorance presented by that which we do
not understand.
________ 3. Whether someone is telling us the truth we must have
some idea of what it would be like to actually hear the truth.
________ 4. In order to engage in philosophy we must first awake
from the slumber of our habitual ways of thinking about our lives.
________ 5. About the changes of the moon and the sun, about the
stars and the origin of the universe.

  1. Hi everyone I’m Roper Gamali your mentor in today’s lesson which all about introduction to Philosophy of Human Person. Our discussion will focus in different areas such as: 1. Understanding what is philosophy 2. notion of philosophy 3. who can be a philosopher 4. the virtue of a true philosopher 5. Three schools of thought
  2. Let the students read the sentence one by one and ask the students which of the sentence he want to answer. After the students give his answer ask the students if he have doubt or wonder about his answer and why? NOTE: if one sentence is answered by the students this sentence cannot be selected again.
  3. Before you can generate new philosophical idea’s You are in the stage of WONDER and DOUBT about a certainties and if you have the knowledge you are now able to argue with.
  4. So if you have doubt and wonder you LOVE wisdom because you love truth. Because philosophy is love of wisdom. Now the question who among the class love wisdom. Wisdom is a combination of knowledge and understanding. Or other words wisdom is enlightenment (nataohan kana)
  5. Wonder is = you do not know why you are here? What is your purpose in life Doubt is = you know something about your self / life, but you what to deep in the answer of your question / wonder. Argument = this is come with the validation of being skeptic (wonder and doubt) because you can argue using logical reasoning based of what did you understand about your life.
  6. If you have doubt, wonder in a particular things what you are going to do? …… you need to do Inquiry by doing so you acquire knowledge and by that … you can Argue using Logical reasoning.
  7. I am sure most of this class to day as we speak is in the stage of becoming a Philosopher why? because you are skeptic (doubting, wondering), so if you are in this stage? You can be a philosopher because philosopher (philosophy) is……….. LOVE of wisdom because Wisdom is a combination of knowledge and understanding. Or other words wisdom is enlightenment (nataohan kana)
  8. Try to spell out this virtue of true philosopher? (The student read at loud the content in the presentation). Questions: 1. what is virtue? 2. what is the virtue of true philosopher in your own words based on the content definition above? 3. if philosophy is love of wisdom what the philosopher whant to incline?
  9. The students in this activity will present a scenarios. Between knowing that and knowing why? Example: I know that this is a ballpeen use to write … this is the reason why the ballpeen being created.
  10. Doubt Wonder Doubt Wonder Wonder
