Managing human resources in the IT sector has been a challenge for most companies that
have set up operations in India. These companies aimed to take advantage of the relatively
low cost of technically competent labor in India as compared to the US and developed
countries in Europe. There was a huge demand for skilled personnel in this sector, but
companies confronted by a lack of sufficient numbers of skilled personnel to meet the

- Microsoft’s invests a large amount on training these individuals to gain expertise in
their domains by providing them accommodation & food facilities, travelling
expenses, hiring the software infrastructure necessary, providing necessary tools &
software’s required for the specific tasks.
- Several teams of the hired interns are formed & given training under several
technical experts & managers.
- The initial training for 3 months termed as ‘MSA’ i.e. Microsoft student associates is
carried out at Bangalore or Hyderabad & then these candidates are sent to their
respective base locations for further training program termed as ‘MSP’ i.e.
Microsoft’s Student Partners.
- The soft skills development in the due course are carried out by the HR personnel.
- For our source Ms. Pooja, the technical training was carried out by Mr. J S Dutta &
the soft skills training was done by Ms. Aditi Bajpayee.
