2. How old are you?
• For this we had 50% (15 people) say 18 years old
• 33% (10 people) say 17 years old
• 17% (5 people) say 19 years old
• Here we can see that our target market is massively based around the
late teenaged years, which gives us a big insight as to what they might
or might not be interested in.
3. Do you find documentaries interesting?
• Results stated that 100% of those asked said that they were
interested in documentaries, this is what we expected as we gave out
our questionnaires to our target market.
4. On average, how many documentaries do you
watch a month?
• Here we can see that by far, the most common amount of
documentaries asked each month is 2-3. This means that our target
market and audience is quite broad and leaves us the chance to
interact with them.
5. What is your favourite genre of
documentary? (e.g. crime, reality, nature)
• 100% of the people that filled in our questionnaires said that their
favourite genre of documentaries was crime. Although one of the
responses said crime and reality.
• From this we can see that we handed out or questionnaires to the
ideal target market that we were looking for, having already started to
swing towards doing a crime documentary.
6. What is your least favourite genre of
documentary? (e.g. medical, educational, etc)
• The responses from this were quite varied.
• We had 33% say that they didn’t like reality documentaries.
• 33% say that they didn’t like educational documentaries.
• And then the final 33% was made up of responses disliking medical
and nature documentaries.
• The positives that we took from this were that no one said that crime
documentaries were their least favourite genre of documentary.
7. Do you prefer…
• Here we gave the respondents a choice of two different responses.
Observational reality or Factual voice overs. We included this
question to see what the target audience would like to see during the
documentary.
• From these results we will be able to keep this in mind when
producing the documentary.
8. What shot do you think engages the audience
more in a documentary?
• We used this question so that we could understand what type of
conventions that we should be looking to use in the documentary.
• From looking at the results, we can see that we will be using a lot of
close up shots, as well as the use of voiceovers to address our
audience.
9. When information is being presented in a
documentary do you prefer hearing..
• Finally, we ended by giving the respondents another choice of two.
• As you can see there was a unanimous response advising to use the
use of a voice over during our documentary.
