2. Learning Preferences
• At the beginning of the class my learning preferences between active and reflective were
mainly balanced ranging at a 1. This meant that I preferred studying in groups which the
members take turns in explaining different topics to each other. This also meant that I should
not over analyze material too much and stop periodically to think about the whole picture.
For the sensitive and intuitive learners, the test showed that I have a strong preference as a
sensing learner. As for visual and verbal, I tested to be at a moderate preference for visual.
And lastly for sequential and global, I showed to be fairly balanced between the two. At the
end of this class, I feel that my learning preferences has not changed much which shows that
I truly do prefer these preferences in studying and learning.
• In the beginning of the class, I scored a score a 5 on the Active learner side. I like to work
in groups so we could have a shared knowledge. I learn a lot better doing hands-on work
than sitting in a lecture hall listening to the professor teach. I scored a 5 on the Sensing side. I
like to learn through a straightforward process where it’s organized and simple. I enjoy facts
over theories. Hands-on work is how I learn. I scored a 7 on visual. I definitely remember
pictures, diagrams, and charts more than through text. I scored a 1 on the Sequential side. I
love learning sequentially, but at the same time, I don't always understand it right from the
start. My thinking wasn’t really swayed that much by the end of the class so my learning
preferences were identical.

3. Thoughts On Learning Preferences
• Our thoughts on learning preferences haven’t really changed
much. We both have our own styles of learning and studying, but
usually we learn and study through the materials handed to us by
our professors. We don’t really go out of our way to find extra ways
to learn the current curriculum. It’ll be more helpful if our
professors could incorporate more learning preferences into their
teaching, but many professors stick with the old-fashioned teaching
style of lecture and textbooks.
• Knowing about learning preferences does not necessarily
make a difference in a personal learning success. We believe that
we can learn about the different learning preferences there are, but
it does not affect an individual and their preferences. People grow
to know their preferences in learning in how they are raised and
taught to learn a certain subject. Telling someone to change their
preferences is hard to actually do because people are used to a
certain way.

4. Learning Pathway
• At the beginning of this class I chose to become a learning warrior because
my primary goal was to go into deeper investigation into fewer technologies. In
choosing this pathway, I hoped to apply what I learn in this class to the other
classes I am taking for Spring 2012 as well. I feel that I had success in getting a
broader knowledge of multimedia technologies. On the warrior pathway, I
discovered some multimedia activities that I have not known of before. I did not
change my pathway because I felt that I did not need to and I did learn more in
digital storytelling, eBooks, and digital comics to help me in this semester.
•I chose to be a Learning Warrior for this class throughout the semester
because I wanted to utilize specific technologies to enhance my learning for the
classes I was taking. The class taught me how to share presentations online which
in doing so, allowed me to share information I know and present it publicly. I
haven’t really used podcasts as much as I would have liked, but other than that
form of multimedia, my use of multimedia is practically daily. I did not change my
pathway because I wanted to focus on certain technologies that would enhance
my learning of information.

5. Learning Activities
•We felt that learning activities level 1 helped us get a broader
understanding of how to use certain mobile technologies. Level one
describes what the technology is, what it does and how it can be
used for learning. This helps us better understand the big picture of
things first in order to get more detailed into the technology. The
quiz also helps because it tests ourselves in what we know from the
powerpoints or screencasts. We feel that level 3 activities helped us
with a deeper understanding of the technologies because we
physically have to use them and try to integrate them into our
everyday lives to see if it works for our preferences. Activity level 1
has worked for the best in our learning preferences because
knowing the general, broader idea of the technologies already gives
us an idea if it would work out in our daily lives.

6. Exploration of Technologies for
Learning
• I explored the Screencasts technology quest for my own learning and I
believe that it fits my learning preference for being visual, and sequential.
Although I am not a very strong verbal learner, Screencasts are helpful because it
shows the words and talks about the screencast verbally as well. Therefore I am
being verbally and visually stimulated. The screencast shows sequentially what is
going on and that helps me as well. Multimedia accommodates my preferences
because it combines text, video, audio, graphics, and animation. These all in
combination helps me learn what I need to learn and retain the information.
•I liked how screencasts allow me to create presentations of information I’ve
gathered and share it with my friends. It allows me to accommodate my visual and
sequential learning preference as I am allowed to view presentations over again.
The majority of information presented are in sequence with the learning material
as it doesn’t jump from one subject to another and then back. We all know how
important multimedia is in our lives and I use it everyday to help me with learning.
From pictures to videos to text, multimedia helps accommodate most of the
learning preferences.

7. Synthesizing Your Experience
Our group was most interested in screencasting and eBooks. We have heard a lot
about eBooks because many teachers use them for their classes now since they are
cheaper and can be convenient. We were most surprised that digital comics can be
used for learning because usually the digital comics we see are non relative to school
or learning. Some multimedia technologies do not work for us such as the digital
textbooks. Although digital textbooks allow us not have to carry around heavy books,
reading off of a computer feels different than reading from an actual book. Some
technologies that we are interested in exploring more are media sharing sites such as
Flickr to improve our learning. We have not used Flick a lot this semester but the site
shares many pictures with people and we believe that it can be helpful in our science
classes.
Screencasting worked best for our learning preferences because it shows the
words and talks about the screencast verbally as well. Therefore we are being verbally
and visually stimulated. The screencast shows sequentially what is going on and that
helps me as well.

8. What We’ll Do Next
•Some multimedia learning strategies that we will continue to use
after this class is screencasting because we feel that that was the most
effective learning tool in this. Digital quizzes and exams were helpful as
well because they are more like open note quizzes which help us
understand our quizzes more and test our knowledge. Screencasting can
be used at learning at jobs because people and use them to explain how
things would be done or explain procedures.
•Digital quizzes will be continued for learning after this class because
it is a good way to determine what we know and what we don’t know.
This will then therefore show what we need to learn and study more. This
can be used outside of school because it be used in work places to quiz
people how much they know about their job. We feel that digital
storytelling or digital comics will be continued to be used for non learning
purposes because it is fun to read or watch them in leisure time. We will
be advoiding eBooks and digital textbooks because we feel that it is
inconvenient to read textbooks online. We are unable to highlight or flip
the pages and easily go back to where we want to read.
