IRA is pleased to offer a workspace on PBworks to any committee that is interested.
Working as a group when your team members are located all over the world can be really challenging. IRA has found a tool that can make your work easier. PBworks gives your committee a central gathering spot on the Internet that is available at your convenience.
After considering several collaboration tools, IRA chose PBworks because of its features and security. Since PBworks is a service that IRA pays for, we enjoy the benefits of PBworks’ constant improvements, new features, and quick response to technical questions. For the past 18 months IRA has been using PBworks for the Board and a number of other working groups and we’ve been very happy with it. We wanted to extend the invitation to use PBworks to our Committees so that you work together, easily and efficiently. Once your workspace is set up only you and those you invite will be able to access it.
Each group’s needs are unique. My experience has been with using PBworks for the Board – it’s working well for me, but I wouldn’t claim a deep expertise in all of the features of this tool. I may not be using features that could be very important to you. So the best way to understand what PBworks has to offer and how it could help you is to take one of PBworks very informative tours. If you have another tool that you are using, you can certainly continue to use that but we would encourage everyone to at least take a tour of PBworks to see how it compares. The most important thing is that you are working collaboratively in the most efficient way.
While PBworks offers lots of features, we’ve found it to be most valuable for things like posting contact information, storing documents that everyone needs to see (like applications or evaluation forms), and creating and tracking due dates for projects. Making an online collaboration tool – any online collaboration tool – work well takes commitment. Don’t fall back to emailing documents. Keep driving your members to PBworks and soon they’ll naturally turn to that for their work.
