technologies in the construction,
research and planning and
evaluation stages?

2. Construction
For the construction stages of our media
product we used several different media
technologies to make the process easier and
more successful for the main product and
ancillary texts. Some of these media
technologies include…
3. Adobe Photoshop CS6
We used the program Photoshop
to create some of the titles for
our ancillary texts and Intertitles
for our main main product as
shown on our blog we have also
used Photoshop to create the
Empire magazine front cover.

4. Adobe InDesign CS6
Adobe InDesign CS6 was one of the
main pieces of software we used in
the construction of our media
products, a few of the things we
used InDesign for include. Creating
our Empire magazine cover, creating
billboard posters, creating film
posters. We chose to use Adobe
InDesign as most of the group were
more comfortable with using
InDesign over a program such as
Photoshop.
5. Adobe InDesign CS6
This is an example of editing an
ancillary text in its early stages
using Adobe InDesign.
6. Adobe After Effects
This is the software used by our
group during the editing process
of the horror movie trailer. This
program was more beneficial to
group members as it was more
easily accessible compared to
Apples IMovie. We also used this
program to create Intertitles,
create our continental pictures
Ident, ancillary texts, visual
effects and colour grading and
correcting.

footage and
create our horror
film trailer.
9. Camera Equipment
These are the cameras we have
used when constructing our
media products. We used a Mini
SD Camcorder to film our original
trailer, however our footage was
lost so we opted to use a Canon
EOS 600d the second time round
for higher quality footage. We
also used a Canon EOS 1100d
with a 50mm 1.8 lens for our
poster, billboard and magazine
shoot.

10. Research and Planning
For the Research and Planning stages of our
media product we used several different media
technologies to make the process easier and
more successful for the main product and
ancillary texts. Shown on the following slides…
11. YouTube
YouTube was one of the main
media technologies we used in the
research and planning stages as we
used the site to find real horror
trailers to analyse and to take
inspiration from. We also used
YouTube to watch other A2 media
horror trailers to see what type of
thing we wanted to achieve.
Another way in which we used
YouTube was in the music research
stage as the recommended bar in
the website was greatly helpful.
13. IMDb
We chose to use the IMDb
website to look for real
Horror/ Slasher trailers for
analysis. Along with this
IMDb has all of the film
posters we needed along
with the trailers so we
could easily get them for
analysis too.
14. Google/ Google Maps
We chose to use the search
engine Google along with
Primary research to find
locations to shoot our trailer.
We then used Google maps to
find them and see if they were
accessible and suitable for
what we needed.

17. Evaluation
For the Evaluation stage of our media product
we used several different media technologies to
make the process easier and more successful for
the main product and ancillary texts. Shown on

18. Facebook
We decided that Facebook
would be a good site to use in
the evaluation stages as we
could easily get feedback on
our trailer by posting a link to
YouTube or Vimeo. We could
also get feedback quickly on
things like our poster and
billboard.
19. Other Social Networks
We chose other sites like
Facebook such as Twitter,
Flickr and Instagram to
get quick feedback on our
products.
20. Slideshare and Prezi
We have chosen to use
sites such as Slideshare
and Prezi to present our
evaluation questions as it
is more professional than a
word document and more
interesting than an essay.
21. YouTube
We chose to upload our final
cut of the trailer to YouTube
as it is more widely used
than sites like Vimeo. We
used YouTube also as there
are more people using it to
give feedback. We also used
YouTube to upload render
tests and workflow videos.
However we could have just
as easily used a site such as
Vimeo.
22. Blogger
I would say that blogger is the program
we used the most in the whole process as
we used it in every stage, I believe it was
most important in the research and
planning stage as most of the blog posts
were happening at this time as the posts
were short blogger helped us keep track
of what we were doing but also keep
track of what our group members were
doing. Mainly we used It to present our
work. But we used it to track our progress
as a group and to plan what we were
going to do throughout.
