VERTEBRATES AND INVERTEBRATES
Vertebrates Have skeleton
Have: head, torso, limbs and a tail
3
Invertebrates
Don’t have skeleton
Invertebrates protect their bodies in
different ways (for example a shell)
Some vertebrates have an exoskeleton.
This is hard like a skeleton but it's outside the body.
For example: cockroaches, crabs
4
VERTEBRATES GROUP
Have hair o fur
Breath: with lungs
Have 4 legs
Feed their babies with milk
Live: land, water.
¡¡Only one mamal can fly, the bat!!
MAMALS
5
Have moist skin
Breathe: Young (gills) and adult (lungs)
Adults have 4 legs
Live: land, water.
AMPHIBIANS
Have scales and use fins to swim
Breathe: gills
Live: water
FISH
6
Have 2 wings and are covered with feathers
Breathe: lungs
Have 2 legs
Most birds can fly, but penguis can’t!!!!
BIRDS
Have dry, scaly skin
Breathe: lungs
Have 4 legs, but some have not legs
Live: land
REPTILES
7
INVERTEBRATES GROUP
Have soft, muscular body
Live: sea
Ej: mussels (mejillones) and oysters (ostras)
MOLLUSCS
Have a long, soft body.
Live: land or water
Some worms are parasites , ej. Leeches
(sanguijuela) , flatworms (gusanos planos)
WORMS
8
Body: head, thorax and abdomen.
Many have antennae and some have 2 wings.
Some have 6 legs. Other have 8 legs (spider)
and others more than 100 legs..
ARTHROPODS
