Julius Caesar was a real person! He was born on July 12, 100 B.C. (discuss what B.C. means) and was a well-known political leader in history. He was considered a military genius and brilliant politician. It is believes that he was a descendant of the Goddess Venus. He was named after his father, who was a war hero and respected politician.
Married Cornelia and shortly after a Civil War erupted. His father in-law passed, leaving Caesar with no money. In fear for his own life, he fled to Asia and joined the army. While in the army he was a decorated soldier earning the Civic Crown, the 2nd highest honor in the Roman army.
He returned home after Sulla, the harsh dictator of Rome, died. There he began his political career. In 63 BC Caesar was elected to the position of Pontifix Maximus.
