Women issues in Family
Nimra Ayub Pasha
 Of the world's 1.3 billion poor people, it is
estimated that nearly 70 per cent are
women.
 Between 75 and 80 per cent of the world's
27 million refugees are women and
children.
 Only 28 women have been elected heads of
state or government in this century.
 Of the world's nearly one billion illiterate
adults, two-thirds are women.
Women’s issues in Family
 Women play important role to build a
educated nation and society.
 She contributes in building an educated
family.
 The many problems she is facing in our
society and families but due to shortage of
time here we discuss some of them.
Education
 Right of both men and women
 Some families do not give this right to their
daughters
 They believe if women will be educated she
will become more successful then men and
independent.
 Mostly happening in rural area
Property Rights
 Equal rights for every family member

Discrimination between Son and daughter
Arrange marriage or forced
marriage
 Women are not been asked by parents while
other people choose partner for them.
 Parents force their daughter to marry
someone whom she doesn't know about.
 Women should have right to choose partner
for her.
Abortion and Female Infanticide
 Forced to abort her baby as her In-laws want
a baby boy but a woman pregnant with baby
girl.
LACK OF INDEPENDENCE
 Women is stuck at home
 In rural area women do not even know what
is freedom.
 However, In urban areas women is
independent .
 90% of the women in Pakistan are
household and they are under the men's
power who restrict them and most of them
are belongs to poor families.
Domestic violence and status in Family
 60 to 80 % women are facing the domestic
violence in their marriages.
 Inferior status
 main purpose is to serve her family as a
maid than to be a partner.
 The ratio of domestic violence
is greater in rural areas
than urban areas.
Permission of Job
 Some families do not give permission to
their women to do Job as our society is
congested minded
 . The women do not show her hidden
talent
 Some families give permission to their
women to do job but still the women can
face different problem.
Poverty
 Many families are suffering from poverty as
they do not have income source and the
female of the house may faces many crises
as she managing all the house need
 Widows in our society face poverty as she
has lost her husbands she faces many
problem in feeding to their child to maintain
the other house need.
Depression
 In this era many women are facing
depression in their relationship problems
with husband or with other family
members.
 Major factor for depression among
women belonging to the low
socioeconomic status.
 The depression ratio is high
in married women
Sexual Harassment
 Home is a place where women can feel safe
and more comfortable.
 Family members or relatives sexually abuse
their females by asking them for sex in
exchange of any benefits or favour.
 Unnecessary physical contact, including
unwanted touching and making sexual jokes.
 It is difficult to definitively know how many
women are being harassed at home because
it often goes unreported.
Women issues faced within
Society
According to Christian Belief
 Woman is created out of the rib of man.Woman is created out of the rib of man.
 So it is not written there, that a woman is theSo it is not written there, that a woman is the

Child Marriage
 70% of child marriages are done in India.
 Parents do this because they escape them
from the burden of dowry.
Pity Widows
 Always blame her that she eat our son.Always blame her that she eat our son.

Women Owns no House
 Before marriage she said this is my father’sBefore marriage she said this is my father’s

Public Harassment
 Women have to struggle a lot in our society.
 They are harassed in pubic by male gender.

opposite gender.
 The elders must be an example for the
youngsters.

Promoting equality:
 More seats should be kept for women in
national parliament .
 Equal Job opportunities.
Role of Media:
 Media must highlight the issues and bring
them to recognition to educate others.
 Must portray the strong and shining qualities
of women.
Execution of Law:
 Strict action should be taken against any sort
of women violence.
 Special women police force should be made.
 Women should their rights.
 Women Counselling committees should be
formed.
