15. Ways to Use Edmodo
in Business Education Classrooms
(adapted from: www.edmodo.com/Lucia)
16. 21C Classroom
Make Edmodo a daily part of your
activities. Mobile website and
iPhone/Android apps provide easy access
to Edmodo.
Daily outline - eliminates the questions
"What are we doing today?" and "I was
away yesterday, did we do anything?"
Electronic copies of handouts
Embedded content - videos - Google
Docs
Assignments - paperless submission and
feedback
Gradebook - students can monitor their
achievement
Incentives - badges
17. Professional Social Media
Teach proper use of social media by
requiring professional standards.
Require students to post in complete
words and sentence (i.e. “you” not
“u”, “I” not “i”).
Help your students improve their
grammar and punctuation by
enforcing proper usage on Edmodo.
18. Backchannel Discussions
Encourage real-time discussions through
Edmodo.
In-class movies
Extend learning beyond the classroom
walls. (Backchannel during current events
- e.g. breaking news stories, etc.)
Mobile website and iPhone/Android apps
provide easy access to Edmodo anytime,
anywhere.
19. Mobile Learning
Give your students an interactive
educational experience through mobile
devices.
Bring Edmodo on your next field trip
Post photos and create scavenger
hunt questions, polls or quiz questions
along the way.
20. Communicate with Parents
Keep parents up-to-date on
classroom activities during the
semester through parent
accounts on Edmodo.
Send a message to students and parents in
your class to keep them updated on all of the
events and achievements of your class.
Provides a way for parents to reach out to you
for one-on-one discussions.
21. Sick days & extended leave
Edmodo is great for communicating
when you or one of your students are
absent from school.
Provide notes, assignments or other
updates to students who are absent.
Communicate updates or check in
with your your class if you are absent
from school.
22. Teacher Lounge
Create a “teacher lounge” where
teachers within Business Department
can discuss ideas and share content.
Creates a casual environment where
online discussions can take place.
Share ideas, files and links between a
group of teachers.
Teachers can contribute on their own
time.
Connect with other Business
Departments at other schools
23. Project Based Learning
Take a project-based approached to learning by
creating Edmodo sub groups.
Students can collaborate and work towards
specific goals together in small groups.
All group information can be shared and stored
in Edmodo for easy access by all group
members.
Students need not be from the same school /
class.
24. Co-teaching
Connect your classroom with other
classrooms within your school or
around the globe.
Co-teachers can help grade
assignments, monitor discussions, and
post files or comments to the group.
Students from different schools can be
members of the same group.
25. “Sub Hub”
Provide your sub an easy
way to help manage
students and stay
connected with you.
Create a student account for your sub so they can
participate in your Edmodo class, without gaining
access to your account.
Allows you to communicate with your sub and students,
plus view all classroom activity, even while you’re away.
26. RSS Feed
Keep up with all your favorite blogs
through Edmodo!
Create an Edmodo group, retrieve the
RSS links for the blogs you like to
read and add them to the group.
Create an Edmodo group for your
students with RSS links to current
business news
27. Business Club / OBEA Contests
Use the calendar feature to mark
important dates / meetings / dealines
Notifications will help you update the
group on important messages .
Post results, pictures, etc. for the
group to view.
28. Alumni Groups
After the school year ends, keep in
touch with students and help them
stay connected with each other.
Create an alumni group for all
your graduates to join.
Keep in contact with students
who pursue post-secondary /
business opportunities.
