C. Innovative Research Technology:
Preparation of Biochar from Agricultural By-products viz., maize straw , Cluster bean straw, farmyard manure, poultry
manure, wood saw etc. The biochar has been prepared using two kiln methods by pyrolysis process. Testing of different feedstock
biochars under field condition with and without recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF), under P.G. student research program.
Application of corn stover biochar @ 10 t ha-1 along with (RDF) increased dry matter yield, crude protein yield, chlorophyll
content and plant height of maize crop (at 30 and 60 DAS) as compared to cluster bean and Prosopis julifera biochar and
farmyard manure. RDF+MS10 was found most effective in obtaining significantly higher dry matter and crude protein yield and
larger removal of nutrients from the soil and it also beneficial for built up nutrients in soil. It also showed significantly higher
CEC and OC content in sandy loam soil. Application of RDF+MS5 significantly increased Dry Matter Yield and Crude Protein
Content of forage maize crop which ultimately resulted in larger removals of nutrients from the soil.
Application of maize stover biochar @ 10 MT/Ha along with RDF showed taller plant height and gave 4 times higher
DMY (94.4 q/Ha) than alone soil application of cluster bean stover Biochar @ 5 MT/Ha (23.79 q/ha).

Regional Councilors/Editorial members-Zonewise For The Indian Society of Forage Research, CCS HAU, Hisar-125004 for
year 2005, West Zone: Dr. P. C. Patel, Associate Research Scientist (Biochem.), Main Forage Research Station, AAU,
Anand (Gujarat)
I have increased double income of N.C.Farm, Chharodi of Rs.95.02 lakh in my tenure period (2006-07 and 2007-08) as
compared to only Rs.47.64 lakh in past two years (2004-05 and 2005-06).
Gujarat has allotted seven new farms instead of N.C.Farm, Chharodi and I have developed five newly farms viz., Sansoli,
Nenpur, Meenavada, Mehmadavada Muvada and Khambholaj which have Gauchar, fallow and undulating land with grooves
and trees and make them cultivable by leveling , plotting and enrichments with the proper nutrients.
