BASIC LEVEL CLASS
 Procedure: Show a video to start the lesson
and introduce the class theme. Proceede to
talk to students about travelling.
 Aim: Catch students attention and prepare
them for the subject that will be presented.
 Interaction: Teacher > class
 Estimated time: 5 minutes
 Rationale: Make use of audiovisual material to
stir the students’ interest on the class theme
and make them focus on the lesson.
So Conan went to Cuba and Leo DiCaprio
is strutting around. How about you? Have
you ever travelled somewhere?
 Procedure: Show the students pictures of
possible means of transportation you can use
when you travel. Afterwards introduce the
verbs you should use alongside them.
 Aim: Get them to know the names of vehicles
that are used and how to form phrases with
said vehicles.
 Interaction: Inductive, from teacher to class
 Estimated time: 10 minutes
 Rationale: Have students access their
schemata and relate the new names to the
vehicles they already know (on their mother
language) and deepen said schemata.
 Procedure: Give exemples of words related to
travelling (be it how to get there or where to
stay).
 Aim: The students should be able to express
themselves on a specific subject (travels)
 Interaction: teacher > students
 Estimated time: 15 minutes
 Rationale: Work by the use of associations on
words of a common area and guide the
students in a concise way so they don’t get
“overwhelmed”.
 Places you can stay: hotel, hostel, inn, b&b
(bed and breakfast).
 When travelling by plane: flight, airport, take
off, landing, check in, passport ,etc.
 When going by train: train station, Maglev,
ticket, platform, transfering, etc.
 Common words you may need: reservation,
booking, cancellation, holiday, business
travel, sightseeing, tourist attraction, etc.
 Procedure: Show a video to lighten the mood,
then ask students to form groups and make a
travel plan (destination, place to stay, how to
get there...)
 Aim: Check if they were able to assimilate
what was taught in the lesson and stimulate
them to think about what was shown.
 Interaction: teacher > student; student >
student; students > teacher
 Estimated time: 15 minutes
 Rationale: Use a video so the students can
relax and cease the attention to what was
being explained. Giving them time to prepare
to a productive activity that will require their
creativity and attention.
Conan and Andy decided to drive
to San Diego. How about you and
your friends choose a place to go
and how to get there!
