Social Media Club (SMC) was founded in March 2006 to host conversations around the globe
that explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect,
communicate, collaborate and relate to each other. SMC enables you explore your personal and
professional passions by helping you connect with a community of your peers based on both
geography and areas of interest. We exist to ensure that the world of Social Media does not
become an echo chamber of self-reinforcing thoughts, but is instead fueled by diversity of
opinion and perspective. SMC is a 501c6 non profit organization.
The Tunisian Chapter did start back in 2013 and achieved hundreds of meetups and events
covering pioneering subjects and dealing with both the community and the professionals, lately
the SMC Tunisia has been classified as one of the best 10 clubs out 600 around the globe.
The real short story of the DMK
The development of digital marketing is inseparable from technology development. One of the key points in the start of was
in 1971, where Ray Tomlinson sent the very first email and his technology set the platform to allow people to send and receive
files through different machines.
In the 1990s, the term Digital Marketing was first coined,With the debut of server/client architecture and the popularity of
personal computers, the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications became a significant part of marketing
technology. This led to the first clickable banner ad being going live in 1994, which was the "You Will" campaign by AT&T and
over the first four months of it going live, 44% of all people who saw it clicked on the ad.
In the 2000s, with more and more Internet users and the birth of iPhone, customers started searching products and making
decisions about their needs online first, instead of consulting a salesperson, which created a new problem for the marketing
department of a company.
Digital media growth was estimated at 4.5 trillion online ads served annually with digital media spend at 48% growth in 2010.

So, what is it?
In short, Digital Marketing is the use of modern technology for a marketing purpose
creating a sales force for the brand and a better user experience for the customer,
instead of having a salesman knocking your door it’s a banner that would persuade
you to buy such or such thing but thing are a bit more complicated than that and it
involves a lot of work and imagination that changes with time, for example today
influencers marketing is a big chunk of the market rather than pushing ads ahead
it’s the person with interest that would convince you to do so and so (remember:
lead by example or in a more dramatic effect: monkey see monkey do).

What Does a Digital Marketer Do?
Digital marketers are in charge of driving brand awareness and lead generation through all the digital
channels -- both free and paid -- that are at a company's disposal. These channels include social media, the
company's own website, search engine rankings, email, display advertising, and the company's blog. -
