Hello! My name is Shelly Terrell and I’m going to share my survival tips for teaching kids English. When I arrived in Germany, I felt more than ready to teach children English, because in the states I had taught them other subjects. On the first day I failed miserably. Children fought, cried, climbed walls, and learned very little English. Since this day I have committed to making myself a great children’s English teacher!
And I believe that teaching English is one of the greatest professions because many times we don’t only teach a language we teach communication and I truly believe that each of my students has incredible potential to positively impact their world.

I believe educators can but also lose this belief when they go through the stress of bureacracy, bad educational policy, lack of support, and bad press.

Many grow up believing they can be anyone and do anything! They pretend they are superheros and truly believe they can save the world! Wouldn’t it be great to raise generations with the mentality that they can save the world and equip them with the skills to do this?
