This presentation provides awareness about the free software of video capturing and editing tools. This presentation slide gives clarity about the screenshot, screen capture, and screencast.
5. Screenshot
• A single picture of a computer,
smartphone, or tablet screen
captured and saved as an image
file.
• A screenshot only refers to a
static image

6. Screen Capture • Action of getting all or part of
the current screen and
turning it into an image or
video.
• A desktop screen
capture involves grabbing
anything on your screen,
including images, animated
GIFs, or videos.
• Examples:

7. Animated GIF
• A moving picture in GIF format. A series of
image frames is displayed in an animated
sequence.
• Instead of taking individual screenshots
to show someone a process, you can just
capture a single animated GIF of what’s
happening on your screen.
• Animated GIFs are also a lightweight file
size and play automatically so they’re
quick and easy to share on sites like
Slack, JIRA, and Trello.
• Examples:
Submitting Helpdesk Tickets
Show a Series of Steps in a Process
Onboarding and Walkthroughs

8. Screencast
• Turning screen content into a video
to teach an application or to
promote a product by demonstrating
features.
• These are videos that show your
screen and usually include some
sort of narration to help walk you
through what you’re seeing.
• Screencasts can be polished
videos used by professional
trainers or quick recordings to
show a co-worker how to submit a
ticket to IT. The idea is all the
same.
• Examples:
Tutorials
Video Lessons

9. FOSS
Free and open-source software (FOSS) is software that can
be classified as both free software and open-source
software.
That is, anyone is freely licensed to use, copy, study, and
change the software in any way, and the source code is
openly shared so that people are encouraged to voluntarily
improve the design of the software.
This is in contrast to proprietary software, where the
software is under restrictive copyright licensing and the
source code is usually hidden from the users.
