Abstract— A Web Link (Teacher-student portal) project that
acts as an online portal between students and the Teacher.
The system is designed for a particular branch such as
diploma. Teacher can ad Notes, Assignment, e-book. These
are marks of 6 semesters each SEM having 4to5 subjects
each. When students login they can see their notes. Students
also get a student helpdesk to assist them and also a
download page where students may download pdf format e-
books from the web system.
Keywords: Web Link, Student-Teacher Portal
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Overview
A Web link (student-teacher portal) project that acts as an
online portal between students and the teacher. The system
is designed for a particular branch such as diploma. It
contains a teacher who can enter details of students.
Students can then login in this web portal and see their
course details and notes. Now admin can AD details of
Students course .When students login they can see their own
course notes details. Students also get a student help desk to
assist them and also a download page where students may
download pdf format e-books from the web system.
B. Objective
The working in manual system within the colleges requires
many man power and time. Consider percentage &
providing notes and paper for percentage required
calculating marks of every subject of a selected student so
we get the share and to produce notes/papers a protracted
time the teachers dictate within the category and a few
provide Xerox which can’t reached each student. All notices
are dictated at school for each holiday, event, workshops,
conference and timetable of exam. All marks of weekly test
and unit test are displayed on board, timetable of daily class
routine is displayed on board.
This is an online oriented application allows us to
access the full information about the varsity, notes, e-book
etc. This application provides a virtual tour of Campus. Here
we are visiting get the foremost recent information about the
topic. This generic application designed for assisting the
scholars of an institute regarding information on the courses,
subjects, classes, assignments and timetable. It also provides
support that a school also can check about his daily
schedule, can upload assignments, and notices to the
scholars. Here administrator will manage the faculties,
makes the timetable, and upload the foremost recent
information about the topic, campus.
C. About The Project
1) Technology Used
a) HTML
HTML could be a hypertext mark-up language which
is really a backbone of any website. Every website can’t be
structured without the knowledge of html. If we make
our online page only with the assistance of html, than we
can’t add many of the effective features during a online
page, for creating an online page more practical we use
various platforms like CSS. So here we are using this
language to create our web content more
practical moreover as efficient. And to create our web
content dynamic we are using Java script.
b) CSS
CSS stands for "Cascading piece of paper." Cascading style
sheets are accustomed format the layout of web
content. They’ll be accustomed define text styles, table
sizes, and other aspects of web content that previously could
only be defined during a page’s HTML. The
essential purpose of CSS is to separate the content of an
online document (written in any markup language) from its
presentation (that is written using Cascading Style Sheets).
There are many benefits that one can extract through CSS
like improved content accessibility, better flexibility and
moreover, CSS gives grade of control over various
presentation characteristics of the document. It also helps in
reducing the complexity and helps in saving overall
presentation time. CSS gives the choice of choosing various
style schemes and rules in line with the necessities and it
also allows the identical HTML document to be presented in
additional than one varying style.
c) SQL
SQL stands for structured command language. SQL lets us
access and manipulate databases. SQL is an ANSI
(American National Standards Institute) standard. SQL can
execute queries against a database ,retrieve data from a
database, insert records during a database, update
records during a database, delete records from a database,
create new databases , create new tables during a database ,
create stored procedures during a database, create
views during a database, set permissions on tables.

A. Knowledge Definition
As per Webster's Dictionary, knowledge is "the fact or
condition of knowing something with familiarity gained
through experience or association". A more popular
definition of information is "the ideas or understandings
which an entity possesses that are wont to take effective
action to attain the entity's goal(s). This data is particular to
the entity which created it." An understanding of
information requires some grasp of its relationship to
information. In recent times, theoretical objections to the
concept of truth (e.g. by post-modernists) or thereto of
reliability (e.g. by positivists) have led to some blurring of
the excellence. It also tends to obscure the very fact that
while it may be extremely easy and quick to transfer
information from one place to a different, knowledge is
sticky: it's often very difficult and slow to transfer
knowledge from person to a different.
B. Knowledge Management System (KMS)
To have a precise meaning of information Management
System (KMS), imperative, first take a glance at learning
substance. Learning is acquired from data and knowledge.
Data is an accumulation of words, numbers, perceptions or
facts, which are not significant. Data can be changed over to
information when it's placed in an exceedingly significant
structure. At last, learning is acquired from information,
which has been approved to be valid. Vance characterized
information as data that comes with significant substance,
while learning is characterized as confirmed information.
Alavi and Leidner expected that learning is information
within the individual personality. It implies that it's
subjective information that states realities, systems, ideas,
understandings, thoughts, perceptions and judgments.
C. Web Portal
A Web portal or public portal refers to an online site or
service that provides a broad array of resources and services,
like e-mail, forums, search engines, and online shopping
malls. The primary Web portals were online services, like
AOL, that provided access to the net, but by now most of
the normal search engines have transformed themselves into
Web portals to draw in and keep a bigger audience.
III. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Providing access to quality education and expanding
learning opportunities for the scholars of the underserved
communities in both rural and concrete areas continues to be
a serious challenge. a number of the foremost prominent
factors that accentuate this challenge are discussed below:
A. Problems with Traditional Teaching
Classroom environment which plays an important think
about motivating the kids to find out is missing in many
colleges. Children face many challenges to interact in
learning; the foremost intimidating of all isn't having a job
to participate within the process. Children have to be
encouraged to talk, to discuss, to specific their opinions and
to unravel problems together. it's become very difficult to
show students lessons in many subjects esp. Science, Social
studies and Technology thanks to the dearth of learning
tools (apart from the standard classroom teaching). This
results in student disengagement and discontent which ends
in frequent absenteeism in schools. Within the past, students
had to adapt to the teaching types of their teachers but now
there's a requirement for the education system to change its
delivery process to suit the educational types of the scholars.
B. Issues with Teachers
There's a severe shortage of qualified teachers in many
colleges in India. Also, teacher absenteeism in schools may
be a major issue. On the teachers’ front, the maximum
amount because the other nonteaching duties are available
the way of fine preparation, lack of subject expertise and
teaching resources and over-crowded classes are few of the
explanations that limit the teachers to a delivery mode of
lessons, instead of engaging children in partnership for
learning.
IV. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Online Student-Teacher vascular system aims to enhance the
efficiency of faculty information management, and therefore
the main function is managing and maintaining information.
The administrator and students are two major functional
requirements within the system. The Administrator are
given more powers (enable/disable/ update) than other users.
It’ll be ensured that the data entered is of the right format.
For instance name cannot contain numbers. Just in case if
incorrect sort of information is added, the users are asked to
fill the data again. Students use the system to question, get
information and enter their information only.
V. NON-FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Performance Requirements
The proposed system that we are visiting develop are used
because the chief performance system for helping the
organization in managing the full database of the scholar
studying within the organization and having message
notifications. Therefore, it's expected that the database
would perform functionally all the wants that are specified.
B. Safety Requirements
The database may get crashed at any certain time thanks to
virus or OS failure. Therefore, it's required to require the
database backup.
C. Security Requirements
We are visiting develop a secured database. There are
various categories of individuals namely Administrator,
Student who are viewing either all or some specific
information. Depending upon the category of user the access

rights are decided. It means if the user is an administrator
then he will be able to modify the information, append etc.
All other users only have the rights to retrieve the data from
database.
