2. The students in my class had been talking a lot
about pizza. So, we started putting a variety of
pizza books out for silent reading and we read a
few aloud such as Pete’s A Pizza and Sally’s
Pizza.
4. … and we made our own personal pizzas out of
play doh:
5. Next we set up our own mini pizza place in our
classroom and voted on the name “Party Pizza”.
Our little pizza shop became a center for four
students at a time where two students are the
pizza makers and two students are the customers.
The pizza shop was equip with two aprons, two
chef hats, menus (made by the students), order
pads, real pizza boxes, felt pizzas, and “final
product” pizzas.
6. Pizza makers put together their own pizzas using
felt, put the felt pizzas into the oven, then served
their customers:
7. The impromptu pizza unit continued when one of
our student’s mothers ordered us a pizza!
8. We finished our pizza unit by learning a pizza
song called “I am a pizza (playing now) , making
pizza hats, and recording the class singing the
pizza song.
