2. Front cover
After a lot of discussion within the group and
peers, we came to the conclusion that this
was the best design for the front cover of the
digipak.
Our reasons for choosing this are that it suits
the conventions of the band. We discovered
that fans of Alt-J found the artwork appealing
(Audience chose this over other ideas; look in
post ‘Digipak – Artwork’ in blog.) And on a
personal note we found it very interesting and
mysterious which reflects the sound of Alt-J
3. Back
As a group we felt that continuity was a good idea on
an album cover. So we decided to use the same
image but just a different part of it to keep the
themes the same.
We decided to stick to the conventional layout of
text and barcode on the back due to the ‘rule of
thirds’.
4. Inside
Sleeve
containing lyrics
etc.
This is what people will first see when they open up the digipak. The same artwork continues for the same
reasons that were stated previously; continuity.
On the left hand side, there will be a sleeve which contains a small booklet which has lyrics, photos of the
recording process and thank you messages to friends, family etc.
5. CD and DVD art
Here are the final designs for the CD and DVD artwork. Although the artwork isn’t the
same the colours are. You’ll notice that the images are from the promotional music
video. We edited the images on Photoshop through hue/saturation and brightness to
keep the colours relatively the same as they are throughout the rest of the digipak.
