Essay PROJECT PLANNING AND EVALUATION
PROJECT PLANNING AND EVALUATION
(under the Guidance and Supervision of Prof. Limuel C. Cirineo, Ed.D)
I. INTRODUCTION:
Before anyone is going to do something, there is nothing as sensible as planning. A plan as we
know is something thought about and chalked out in advance before the real action takes place
and is actually a recipe for success. But then, the word 'plan' does not need much of a definition. It
has been used so much that it has become quite hackneyed. So, we all know what it means, but
how many of us really resort to planning before we start a course of action. I'm not referring to a
mental picture that we chart out in our minds that is in one word, vague. I mean a real plan in black
and white, that is, put down on a...show more content...
This step–by–step process highlights each feasible step in the project management cycle. By
appropriately incorporating each step of the model into the planning stage, managers can
effectively forecast the deliverables and avoid losing value through accurately assessing the
margins that will be produced in a given strategic initiative. The control cycle is an important part
of quality control, and it not only verifies the delivery of good quality but also identifies gaps and
failures that need to be addressed. Ultimately, it is a process that continuously evolves within the
production process. In this phase, which is the third, I've learned four important steps: PLAN, DO,
CHECK and ACT.
4. EVALUATION AND REFINEMENT (reported by: Ms. Bernarda T. Cudal)
After listening to the reporter, I have realized that in the Process of Project Management Cycle, we
should not set aside this very important stage: Evaluation and Refinement. It is a major part of
learning, and can provide a wealth of useful information on the outcomes of a project or action, and
the dynamics of those who undertook the work. Through the identification of the highlights and
lowlights of the project, evaluation draws conclusions which can inform future decision making, and
assist to define

An evaluation plan is one of the most critical elements of a project because it helps to measure the
project's success. In addition, the evaluation plan provides information that allows for adjustments
/improvements during project development and implementation. According to Howlett, et. al., there
are four types of evaluations (Benchmark Evaluation, Formative Evaluation, Summative Evaluation
and Impact or Outcome Evaluation.) My organization has opted to utilize the Benchmark Evaluation
type. Howlett, et. al., describes the Benchmark Evaluation as follows, "before you begin your work,
you must document the current situation so that measurements taken during and after project
implementation can be compared to the starting point." (Baseline) (p.124) There are, however;
some aspects of the other Evaluation types that can be beneficial. For example, the Formative
Evaluation allows for collecting continuous feedback from participants in the program, which will
enable the program to be revised, if needed. The Summative Evaluation allows for collecting data on
the impact of a program after a year of operation in the community. Lastly, the Impact or Outcome
Evaluation type evaluates what has changed with individuals, groups, the community and/or the
knowledge base as a result of the project. The Benchmark Evaluation, which we have chosen as our
primary evaluation tool, will provide data that can be used to assess the larger

Nike Shoes Evaluation
A product that I regularly purchase nearly every quarter is a pair of Nike Shoes. I find athletic shoes
to be more comfortable for use on a day to day basis. There are various types of athletic shoes such
as New Balance, Reebok, Adidas, and Asics.
The two main reason I purchase Nike shoes over the others is the design/functionality of the shoes
and the access to a large variety of shoes.
Nike running shoes feature innovative design and the latest technologies to help you run your best.
Nike does offer styles for all age groups to bright and colorful for the young demographic and neutral
colors for an evening casual walk.
Nike brands are sold in retail stores like Academy and Shoe Carnival. I often buy Nike in outlet
stores. There is a Nike

Results Based Monitoring And Evaluation
Results–based monitoring and evaluation is a set of concepts associated with performance
management or results based management (RBM) strategy, which evolved in 1990's. During that
period, many countries introduced extensive management reforms in responding social, political and
economic pressures that were triggered by the factors of globalisation, budget deficits, structural
adjustments and competitiveness (Binnendijk, 2000). Central feature to most of those reforms has
been an emphasis on 'performance improvement' and 'achievement of targeted/expected results'
which were the core features of RBM. RBM has been used by many development agencies,
governments, and donor agencies in delivering development interventions and has become an
emerging trend in contemporary development practice. The objective of this paper is to review the
pros and cons of result–based M & E. First a conceptual background is presented with basic
definitions of the terminology involved in RBM. This will then follow a discussing on how RBM
changed the roles of M & E and an analysis of factors for and against result–based M & E (pros and
cons) with illustration of examples wherever possible. Osborne and Plastrik (2000) in 'The
Reinventors' Field book' appreciates the 'performance measurement' as a tool to hold institutions
accountable and to introduce rewards (incentives) for the performance. It further enables citizens to
judge and value the interventions made for them and provide data for the

Essay on Product Evaluation: A Hairdryer
Product Evaluation: A Hairdryer
Introduction.
I am a 4th year student in St Patrick's Grammar school Downpatrick studying technology and
design for my GCSE. I must do two focused tasks, my first task is a product evaluation, for this task
I will be evaluating a hairdryer manufactured by Vidal Sassoon.
Justification.
I picked this appliance because:
Г…Вё It is a commonly used household object.
Г…Вё I have this appliance in my house so I can look at it whilst testing it against my specification.
Г…Вё It is a unisex appliance used by all age groups.
Г…Вё I am interested to find out how this appliance actually works.
Г…Вё It fit's the criteria which is:
It must have an element...show more content...
The other products have very little advantages over my product. The reason the hairdryer is so
reasonably priced is because the casing is mass produced, this means that the manufacturer can cut
the final price of the hairdryer that you buy.
Function.
Primary: It dries and styles your hair.
Secondary: Use the cold air facility to inflate an airbed or lilo.
Ergonomics.
It is easy to put your hand around the handle and easy to press the button with your thumb. One of
the switches is for the temperature of the air coming out of the dryer and the other one is for the
speed of the fan. If one of the switches goes flat the hair dryer will turn off. Pressing the slide
buttons up and down can regulate the force of the air coming out of the nozzle. These buttons
control the different speeds and heat. he hairdryer is held at least 10cms away from your hair and
the hot air that comes out, will dry or style your hair. The overall weight of the hairdryer is not too
heavy, as the user must use one hand to hold it up against their head and this holding action can be
strenuous on the arm muscle.
Modification.
The things that I could do to modify my hairdryer would be to put the switches on the side of the
hairdryer and put a rubber grip on it so it is easier to hold on to when your

Literature Review On Consumer Perception
Literature Review
In the past, the concept of consumer perception on value has been utilized to analyze the decision
making of consumers in many phases. The consumers will significance the product from many
internal and external factors comparing with what he has to sacrifice. If the perceived value of the
product exceeds what he has to give up, then he will choose to buy the product.
According to a research, the results indicate that the factors influence purchasing decision as

Adorable Pet Photography

Introduction
Adorable Pet Photography (APP) is a sole proprietorship company that promises to capture
memorable pet pictures for their clients. I have chosen APP from the Business Plan Pro software's
sample database to consider it for investment purposes. The following evaluation will explain my
intent to invest in APP based on the overall writing of thebusiness plan, feasibility of the plan, and
the competencies needed by the entrepreneur to be successful.

entrepreneur has adequately portrayed the company's goals, how he intends to meet those goals,
qualifications, and assets. The plan is...show more content...
The business plan states APP will be a part time business at first until it grows a large enough
client base to fund a full time effort. It also claims that it will provide consistent quality products at
a competitive price with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and flexible hours. Though there are
many positive points to consider when assessing the feasibility of APP, there are a few concerns
too. I would like more information on how APP plans to offer flexible hours to clients while at the
part–time capacity. If the part–time schedule of APP is to accommodate another job or income
source, I would like an explanation of how the two schedules will not interfere. Another concern to
address is plans and funding for future equipment. The owner states that he owns all of his own
equipment but photography technology changes quickly. Does he intend to keep up with the latest
equipment to meet the expectations of his clients? Where will the funding for new equipment
come from and how often does he plan to upgrade? Will he be replacing cameras and other
hardware? What about photo editing software and the computers to run them on? Overall I find
Adorable Pet Photography's business plan and goals to be feasible. There are a few follow up
questions and concerns, but a meeting with the owner should clear those up.
Conclusion
Adorable Pet Photography has done a good job with their business plan. It is

Outcomes are the changes, benefits, learning or other effects that happen as a result of your work
(Cupitt and Ellis, 2016). Most importantly, outcomes allow your work to be more effective. This
includes identifying what works well and what are the changes for improving the task.
Ultimately this aids in using efficiently in order to satisfy consumers' needs and wants (Cupitt and

Source Evaluation 1:
Credible Author: Explain how or why the author should be considered an expert.
When we are considering sources for a research papers, it is not a wise thing to just jump onto the
Internet and pull of the first article you see on the topic, which may sometimes sounds legitimate.
In this day an age, anyone can create a website and put their thoughts out there for the world to see.
To avoid taking information from authors that are not credible, writers should always research the
author's background, their title, and the work they have done in the past. Author Dr. Peter V. Hall

The study purpose entailed an evaluation of intravenous therapy product and impact of the practice
on needle stick injuries and central line infections (CLIs). The researcher collected data for one year
from 2009 to 2010 before implementing product and practice changes. It was noted that there exists a
statistical significance when comparing central line infections before and after implementing an
antimicrobial intravenous connector. In addition, the number of needle stick injuries exhibited a
reduction rate of twelve percent during the study time. The outcome of the result supported the
current education and clinical practice as well as the application of antimicrobial connector and
later–activated intravenous in the therapy system. As seen from the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention program, it estimated 1.7 million patients acquire every year hospital acquired infections
(HAI) in the United States of America. Hospital acquired infection are an unnecessary burden in that
it results an increase in intensive care unit costs, hospital cost, and patient death globally. Charron
states that traditional forms and techniques such as staff education and hand washing no longer
quantitative results with respect to mitigation of occurrence of hospital acquired infections. There
has been the initiation of approaches to combat the hospital–acquired infection in the last several
years. One of the commonly monitored and reported HAIs, are the central line infections

Critical Evaluation of the Marketing Mix
Critical Evaluation of the Marketing Mix
"The Marketing Mix is a combination of Product, Price, Place and Promotion (The four P's) that
helps increase sales to the target market" (McCarthy, 1960 cited in Combe 2006 p126)
This systematic tool is more commonly used once a business has decided on its overall competitive
marketing strategy. This includes analysing marketing opportunities and selecting a target market.
The development of the four P's to the advantage of a specific business can be described as the third
stage of the marketing process. Subsequent to this stage is the managing of the marketing effort,
better known as market implementation. This report will discuss the way in which the marketing
mix has progressed and adapted...show more content...
B2B distribution from producers of goods or services to organizational customers can now be
controlled more efficiently. Some businesses have moved away from B2B distribution to
intermediate distribution where a producer sells directly to the customer. Dot com businesses have
taken advantage of this situation such as E–Bay, basing their whole strategy on this form of direct
distribution.
Businesses now have more options in respect to communication with customers. With this, they can
gain valuable feedback which can ultimately lead to innovative products meeting the needs identified
by the customers. This is similar to "Relationship Marketing" which focuses on the retention of
customers through service orientation. According to Kotler "Companies must move from a
short–term transaction–orientated goal to a long–term relationship–building goal" (Kotler cited in
Farhoomand 2005). This is a useful long term strategy but does not guarantee sales within the short
term. Depending on the overall marketing strategy of an organization, this may or may not be a
successful strategy.
Combe (2006) looks at the way Microsoft bundles its software products with its operating system in
order to optimize brand exposure. Microsoft charges for the whole product including the extras
which means it can be sold at a higher price while promoting itself simultaneously.

Evaluation Of A Project Proposal
Vice–president Deirlien, I have received the three project proposals for review along with the
information relative to what the company is seeking to gain as a result of project implementation.
Taking those factors into account, my team is prepared to present a project recommendation.
Moving forward it would make the most sense to move forward with two of the three proposed
projects, Project Juniper and Project Stargazer. While these projects are drastically different,
implementing together will serve as the best potential course of action for the company precisely
because of how divergent they are. First, for each project a separate feasibility study was conducted
based on the information that was provided. The diagrams generated as a...show more content...
These factors serve to make it a sound it a sound economic decision to move forward with the
project. Regarding economic feasibility for Project Stargazer the majority of the funds to bring
this product to market have already been allocated and/or spent. This is a positive as it means
that there are less funds which will need to be provided in the future in order to make this project
ready to move forward. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Juniper the product is projected
to be available in the next six months. This is a relatively short amount of time considering that it
will bring a new product to market. It must also be considered that it can be considered that there
is already a market for this product as it is an enhancement of a widget already produced by the
company. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Stargazer some interest in the product has
already been expressed. Additionally, its implementation will make the organization a market
leader. However, it must be noted that it will be necessary to be able to better explain this aspect
of the business as it has caused some confusion. Regarding operational feasibility for Project
Juniper it can be presented that the project represents the least amount of operational risk of all of
the projects presented. As an enhancement on a product already produced by the company, it is
likely that only minor changes to the process design will be necessary, if any changes are required
at all. Regarding

To be successful it takes more than Value Discipline understanding and determination to listen to

plans implemented to create the culture and products being developed today. The grand strategy of
Apple Inc. provides basic direction for major actions directed toward achieving long term business
objectives (Pearce, 2011, p. 188). The best grand strategy for Apple Inc. to implement is product
development and innovation. Product development involves the substantial modification of existing
products that can be marketed to current customers (Pearce, 2011, p. 193). Apple Inc. has established
loyal customers based on their quality of product and brand names. It is a trusted brand that thrives
in product development. The iPad, iPhone, and iPod are only some of their top selling products that

Innovation is another grand strategy used throughout Apple Inc. Similar to product development,

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Evaluation
Each evaluation model has its own strengths and weaknesses so it cannot meet and cannot be
suitable for all cases. As per McCoy & Hargie, if we understand the nature of evaluation, the purpose
and the organization and participants' needs, we could evaluate the training more effectively
(McCoy & Hargie, 2001).
Training effectiveness refers to the objectives or the goals were set to achieve after the training
program. According to Bates & Coyne, training effectiveness is all what achieved from the training
program applied on the workplace (Bates & Coyne, 2005). As per Hung, quality of training is more

In project management, there are many different to methods to handle how the project should be
completed, how an ethical situation should be handled, what types of decisions should be made,
how much knowledge the project management should possess, their focus of completing the job on

  • 1. Essay PROJECT PLANNING AND EVALUATION PROJECT PLANNING AND EVALUATION (under the Guidance and Supervision of Prof. Limuel C. Cirineo, Ed.D) I. INTRODUCTION: Before anyone is going to do something, there is nothing as sensible as planning. A plan as we know is something thought about and chalked out in advance before the real action takes place and is actually a recipe for success. But then, the word 'plan' does not need much of a definition. It has been used so much that it has become quite hackneyed. So, we all know what it means, but how many of us really resort to planning before we start a course of action. I'm not referring to a mental picture that we chart out in our minds that is in one word, vague. I mean a real plan in black and white, that is, put down on a...show more content... This step–by–step process highlights each feasible step in the project management cycle. By appropriately incorporating each step of the model into the planning stage, managers can effectively forecast the deliverables and avoid losing value through accurately assessing the margins that will be produced in a given strategic initiative. The control cycle is an important part of quality control, and it not only verifies the delivery of good quality but also identifies gaps and failures that need to be addressed. Ultimately, it is a process that continuously evolves within the production process. In this phase, which is the third, I've learned four important steps: PLAN, DO, CHECK and ACT. 4. EVALUATION AND REFINEMENT (reported by: Ms. Bernarda T. Cudal) After listening to the reporter, I have realized that in the Process of Project Management Cycle, we should not set aside this very important stage: Evaluation and Refinement. It is a major part of learning, and can provide a wealth of useful information on the outcomes of a project or action, and the dynamics of those who undertook the work. Through the identification of the highlights and lowlights of the project, evaluation draws conclusions which can inform future decision making, and assist to define Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. An evaluation plan is one of the most critical elements of a project because it helps to measure the project's success. In addition, the evaluation plan provides information that allows for adjustments /improvements during project development and implementation. According to Howlett, et. al., there are four types of evaluations (Benchmark Evaluation, Formative Evaluation, Summative Evaluation and Impact or Outcome Evaluation.) My organization has opted to utilize the Benchmark Evaluation type. Howlett, et. al., describes the Benchmark Evaluation as follows, "before you begin your work, you must document the current situation so that measurements taken during and after project implementation can be compared to the starting point." (Baseline) (p.124) There are, however; some aspects of the other Evaluation types that can be beneficial. For example, the Formative Evaluation allows for collecting continuous feedback from participants in the program, which will enable the program to be revised, if needed. The Summative Evaluation allows for collecting data on the impact of a program after a year of operation in the community. Lastly, the Impact or Outcome Evaluation type evaluates what has changed with individuals, groups, the community and/or the knowledge base as a result of the project. The Benchmark Evaluation, which we have chosen as our primary evaluation tool, will provide data that can be used to assess the larger Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There are various types of athletic shoes such as New Balance, Reebok, Adidas, and Asics. • 5. Results Based Monitoring And Evaluation Results–based monitoring and evaluation is a set of concepts associated with performance management or results based management (RBM) strategy, which evolved in 1990's. During that period, many countries introduced extensive management reforms in responding social, political and economic pressures that were triggered by the factors of globalisation, budget deficits, structural adjustments and competitiveness (Binnendijk, 2000). Central feature to most of those reforms has been an emphasis on 'performance improvement' and 'achievement of targeted/expected results' which were the core features of RBM. RBM has been used by many development agencies, governments, and donor agencies in delivering development interventions and has become an emerging trend in contemporary development practice. The objective of this paper is to review the pros and cons of result–based M & E. First a conceptual background is presented with basic definitions of the terminology involved in RBM. This will then follow a discussing on how RBM changed the roles of M & E and an analysis of factors for and against result–based M & E (pros and cons) with illustration of examples wherever possible. Osborne and Plastrik (2000) in 'The Reinventors' Field book' appreciates the 'performance measurement' as a tool to hold institutions accountable and to introduce rewards (incentives) for the performance. It further enables citizens to judge and value the interventions made for them and provide data for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I am a 4th year student in St Patrick's Grammar school Downpatrick studying technology and design for my GCSE. I picked this appliance because: Г…Вё It is a commonly used household object. Г…Вё I have this appliance in my house so I can look at it whilst testing it against my specification. Г…Вё It is a unisex appliance used by all age groups. Г…Вё I am interested to find out how this appliance actually works. The reason the hairdryer is so reasonably priced is because the casing is mass produced, this means that the manufacturer can cut the final price of the hairdryer that you buy. Function. Primary: It dries and styles your hair. Secondary: Use the cold air facility to inflate an airbed or lilo. Ergonomics. It is easy to put your hand around the handle and easy to press the button with your thumb. One of the switches is for the temperature of the air coming out of the dryer and the other one is for the speed of the fan. If one of the switches goes flat the hair dryer will turn off. Pressing the slide buttons up and down can regulate the force of the air coming out of the nozzle. These buttons control the different speeds and heat. he hairdryer is held at least 10cms away from your hair and

The following evaluation will explain my intent to invest in APP based on the overall writing of thebusiness plan, feasibility of the plan, and the competencies needed by the entrepreneur to be successful. The business plan states APP will be a part time business at first until it grows a large enough client base to fund a full time effort. It also claims that it will provide consistent quality products at a competitive price with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and flexible hours. Though there are many positive points to consider when assessing the feasibility of APP, there are a few concerns too. I would like more information on how APP plans to offer flexible hours to clients while at the part–time capacity. If the part–time schedule of APP is to accommodate another job or income source, I would like an explanation of how the two schedules will not interfere. Another concern to address is plans and funding for future equipment. The owner states that he owns all of his own equipment but photography technology changes quickly. Does he intend to keep up with the latest equipment to meet the expectations of his clients? Where will the funding for new equipment come from and how often does he plan to upgrade? Will he be replacing cameras and other hardware? What about photo editing software and the computers to run them on? Overall I find Adorable Pet Photography's business plan and goals to be feasible. There are a few follow up questions and concerns, but a meeting with the owner should clear those up. Conclusion Adorable Pet Photography has done a good job with their business plan. The researcher collected data for one year from 2009 to 2010 before implementing product and practice changes. It was noted that there exists a statistical significance when comparing central line infections before and after implementing an antimicrobial intravenous connector. In addition, the number of needle stick injuries exhibited a reduction rate of twelve percent during the study time. The outcome of the result supported the current education and clinical practice as well as the application of antimicrobial connector and later–activated intravenous in the therapy system. As seen from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention program, it estimated 1.7 million patients acquire every year hospital acquired infections (HAI) in the United States of America. Hospital acquired infection are an unnecessary burden in that it results an increase in intensive care unit costs, hospital cost, and patient death globally. Charron states that traditional forms and techniques such as staff education and hand washing no longer quantitative results with respect to mitigation of occurrence of hospital acquired infections. This includes analysing marketing opportunities and selecting a target market. The development of the four P's to the advantage of a specific business can be described as the third stage of the marketing process. B2B distribution from producers of goods or services to organizational customers can now be controlled more efficiently. Some businesses have moved away from B2B distribution to intermediate distribution where a producer sells directly to the customer. Dot com businesses have taken advantage of this situation such as E–Bay, basing their whole strategy on this form of direct distribution. Businesses now have more options in respect to communication with customers. With this, they can gain valuable feedback which can ultimately lead to innovative products meeting the needs identified by the customers. This is similar to "Relationship Marketing" which focuses on the retention of customers through service orientation. According to Kotler "Companies must move from a short–term transaction–orientated goal to a long–term relationship–building goal" (Kotler cited in Farhoomand 2005). This is a useful long term strategy but does not guarantee sales within the short term. Depending on the overall marketing strategy of an organization, this may or may not be a successful strategy. Taking those factors into account, my team is prepared to present a project recommendation. Moving forward it would make the most sense to move forward with two of the three proposed projects, Project Juniper and Project Stargazer. These factors serve to make it a sound it a sound economic decision to move forward with the project. Regarding economic feasibility for Project Stargazer the majority of the funds to bring this product to market have already been allocated and/or spent. This is a positive as it means that there are less funds which will need to be provided in the future in order to make this project ready to move forward. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Juniper the product is projected to be available in the next six months. This is a relatively short amount of time considering that it will bring a new product to market. It must also be considered that it can be considered that there is already a market for this product as it is an enhancement of a widget already produced by the company. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Stargazer some interest in the product has already been expressed. Additionally, its implementation will make the organization a market leader. However, it must be noted that it will be necessary to be able to better explain this aspect of the business as it has caused some confusion. Regarding operational feasibility for Project Juniper it can be presented that the project represents the least amount of operational risk of all of the projects presented. As an enhancement on a product already produced by the company, it is likely that only minor changes to the process design will be necessary, if any changes are required at all.
