2. The steps of presentation:
1. Interview the managers from different companies;
2. Define if they have three key elements of motivation (intensity, persistence and
direction);
3. Come up with a same theory/same theories;
4. Compare and contrast the effectiveness of the same theory(ies) in different
companies;
5. Analyse the findings and derive a common conclusion on the effectiveness of the
selected motivation theory(ies) in different organizational settings;
6. Provide further advice to the companies on how to improve their employees
motivation.

• SCL “BVGroup” - Import and distribution of alcoholic and food products;
• LLC “Prior Style LCC” (BELARUSACHKA TM) – produce women's clothing for
rest and sleep.

McGregor’s theory X and theory Y
• “The strongest motivation is money”.
• “On the one hand, by nature man
seeks to do nothing. On the other
hand, if a person did not seek to do
something, he would not become a
person. But on average, people do not
want to work hard. And the task of the
company is to make people work
more”.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory
• “If he wants to build a more effective
and motivational system of work, then
he will hire a person who will
professionally work with the team and
staff”

10. Advice
McGregor’s theory X and theory Y
• Use theory X style of management for
new employees;
• Use theory Y style of management for
a team of experts , who are used to
working under their own initiative;
• Give workers opportunities for self-
development and encourage them not
only with money.

• Better understand what needs can be
satisfied and analyse the situation of
each subordinate;
• Find an appropriate motivation and
system of work, encouragement by
himself.
