MYSTERY SKYPE
3. The role of games in education
Mystery Skype is an educational game and a
critical thinking challenge, played by two
classrooms from different countries on Skype.
The game lasts 45 minutes and the aim is to
guess the location of the other classroom by
asking each other Yes or No questions.
4. Bringing the world to our classroom? Why not?
Nowadays children get information in different
ways and it’s getting harder to attract their
attention at school and lead them to learning.
One method is Mystery Skype
5. To carry out a Mystery Skype lesson you will
need:
● A Computer
● Projector
● Wifi
● Skype downloaded
● A map or Google Earth program.

6. Getting started on Mystery Skype
STEP 1
Go to
education.skype.com/
mysteryskype
and sign in with your
Skype name,
Facebook or Twitter.
You can also register
at this point.
7. STEP 2
Scroll down until you
see Mystery Skype
contacts. This is
where you can start
to find some contacts
that may work for
you and your time
zone.
8. STEP 3 - Prepare your students
1. Prepare the students to introduce themselves without
saying the country where they are from.
1. Set up easy questions to find out where the other
class is.
1. Divide the roles that students should have.
1. Start asking about continents, oceans, north, south,
big or small country etc.
1. Give the questions to both classes .
