It provides a community for academics in higher education 4, It provides a source for peer-review of academic research and learning materials Why use open source materials? Free sharing means broader, faster dissemination More people become involved in research projects and problem solving Leads to rapid improvement of materials and applied research Free sharing diminishes social inequality It increases publicity, reputation and enjoyment of learning for the sake of learning
