The mediaformatI have chosento create is a shortfilm.The
style will be reminiscentof comedysketchesfromshowssuchas
Mitchell andWebb,Harry Enfield andChumsandLittle Britain.
These have all beeninfluencesinmyprojectaswell asother
comedyshowsandfilms.
SynopsisofIdea (content,
narrative,genre)
As mentionedinthe above section,the genre of the shortfilm
will be comedy.However,the filmmayhave elementsand
themesof dramaand comingof age,due to itsplotand
characters. The filmisheavilyreliantoncloningandthusmuch
of the contentwill feature the actorappearinginthe same
frame/shottwice (asdifferentcharacters).
The short filmbeginswithaboybeing askedforhisnumberbya
girl whichshocksand takeshimaback,which subsequently
leadstohis emotionsfiguringoutwhattodo. The filmthengoes
inside the boy’s headandintoan‘engine room’ where various
anthropomorphicemotionsandcharacteristicsof himare. They
all looklike the boywithslightdifferencesdependingonwhat
theyare.The characteristicincharge is ‘CommonSense’ andhe
debatesandargueswiththe otherson whatdecisiontomake.
Theyargue aboutpast decisions,the prosandcons of a
girlfriendand eventuallycome toadecision. The film’sending
has notyet beendecidedasIhave several inmindandwill
choose the one I thinkbestsuitsitsstyle shortlypriortofilming.
Some of the emotions/characteristics/feelingsfeaturedinthe
filmwill be:Sadness,Anger,Libido,SupressedIntelligence and
Paranoia.There mayor may not be others,withthe final
characters beingdecidedduringthe scriptwritingprocess.
However,the above charactersare onesthat are verylikelyto
appear. The editingstyle will be done inaway tomaximise
comic effect.Forexample,quick,fastpacedcuts maybe usedas
well asvariousanglesandshots. The humourand style of my
short filmwill notnecessarilybe thoroughlysophisticatedbut,it
will have ablendof ‘intelligent’and‘toilet’humourthrough
physical comedy,cultural referencesandothercomedicstyles.
Target Audience?

The target demographicformyaudience will be the categories
C1 anddown. The filmisnot aimedat anyspecificethnicitynor
isit necessarilyaimedatone gender.However,due tothe
practicallyall-malecastitislikelythatmenwill be more
attractedto it than women.Also,the filmdealswithvarious
emotionsandfeelingsof men,somalesmaybe able toconnect
withitmore.However,the general themesof love anddecision
makingalongwiththe comedyare genderneutral.The age of
people thisfilmwill be targetedatwill be around15-25 year
olds.
How will your project meet
the needs of your target
audience?
My projectwill meetthe needsof the targetaudience bybeing
funny,thoughtful andhavingthemeswhichthe audience can
connectwith. People whowatchcomediessimplywanttolaugh
and enjoythe presentationbefore them.ThereforeIwill tryto

include asmanydifferentcomedicstylesaspossible tocaterfor
as many comedyloversaspossible.Iamnot focusingonone
specificformof comedy,insteadelectingtouse variousstyles.
As the targetaudience formyprojectis teenagersandyoung
adults,Iwill tryand use themesthattheycan connectwithas
well ascomedytheywill enjoy.The humourinthe filmwill be a
blendof different stylessoasto cater to the needsof a general
audience.However,asthe humourwill be targetedatyoung
people,Iwill use humourandreferencesthattheyare likelyto
understand.Forexample,Ihave lookedatcomediespopular
withyoungpeople andhave gainedcomedicinfluencesfrom
them.
Whatproductiontechniques
will you use to realise your
project?
Throughoutthisproject,Iwill be usingapplicationstoensure
that I keepupto date and on track withmyvarioustasks.I have
createda ‘burn-downchart’onMicrosoftExcel,whichI have
usedto allocate weeksinwhichtocomplete variousstagesof
my work.I will alsobe usingaproductiondiary, where each
FridayI will completeaprogressupdate formyproject,based
on whatI have accomplishedinthatweek.Iwill thenwrite in
detail myplansforthe followingweek. Iwill use various
computersoftware duringthe ideasgenerationandresearch
stagesof my project,suchas Word, PowerPointand
MindGenius. Duringthe productionphasesof mywork, Iwill
use a DSLR camera,a tripodand mostlikelyasound recorderto
gainoptimumaudiolevels.Iwill primarilyuse AdobePremiere
Pro duringpost-productioneditingof myproject,thoughImay
alsouse Adobe AfterEffectsif itisneeded.
