Famous American Actor Kevin Bacon
The Kevin Bacon game is usually played connecting two actors/actresses together via Kevin Bacon Forbes connected the two Bacons via 3 different paths: The Julliard School route, the Ted Turner route, & via Harvey Weinstein, who reportedly paid Kevin Bacon $25,000 not to star in the upcoming Escape From Planet Earth. 24,000+ members are in the Toastmasters International Members Group on LinkedIn. Today I'd like to tell you about Toastmasters and LinkedIn and about 3 groups you must join on LinkedIn.
The game is famous illustrations of Six Degrees of Separation. Everyone is, on average approximately six steps away from any other person on Earth, so a chain of, "a friend of a friend" statements can be made to connect any two people in six steps or fewer.
People aren’t poking you or asking you to join Farmville
Launched in May 2003, As of November 3, 2011 has over 135 million registered users Quantcast reported (on March 25th, for Feb 24 to March 24, 2012)… 48 million plus US visitors 117 million plus global vistors
Basic service including group membership at LinkedIn is free to join with expanded pay services available No cost to join groups, some groups are open while other require approval
Toastmasters International reports 250,000 members globally, 10% participation is often considered good but we‘re Toastmasters, we can do Better!
Toastmasters International reports 250,000 members globally, 10% participation is often considered good but we‘re Toastmasters, we can do Better! The people within this group are very engaged
This is the group for District 59, it isn‘t as active as the TM International group but I was able to put together a team to put on a Toastmasters Podast in Europe and I was able to get this project started by asking a question in our D59 LinkedIn Group.
The UK & Ireland (D71) are a different district from Contental Europe but I think it is still useful to connect with our fellow Toastmasters over there Even as both of our districts grow, expand, and get re-aligned we can keep our own Toastmasters European Community alive a kicking via the LinkedIn groups!
Discover all kinds of things about Toastmaters Share what you learned and experienced with other Toastmasters
Connecting with Toastmasters in Europe, America, New Zeeland, Brazil, and everywhere we are Helping Toastmasters grow
To be successful in most anything in life you need to build a network of people that know how to do what you need to do. Toastmasters is no different Because most people post their resumes/CVs, you can tell some of the skills they have as well their connections
You might not be connected to Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, or even President Obama But as a Toastmaster you could be connected to Lance Miller- 2005 World Champion of Public Speaking And who knows maybe someone in your network is „connected“!
The potential benefits of connecting with other Toastmasters at LinkedIn and in the LinkedIn groups are limitless and LinkedIn and its groups are a tool that we should be using.
