The Interaction of the internal and external organs that are responsible for the digestion process.
Grade 8 Power Point Presentation
Prepared by: Edsyl Berongoy Penas, LPT
2. LESSON OBJECTIVES
1. identify the basic organs
responsible in the process ,
2. sequence the process that
involve in the digestion and
3. explain the importance of
digestion in the living
organisms.
4. DIGESTION: ITS PROCESS
Digestion is a process by which
food is changed into absorbable
nutrients that the body can use.
The food passes through the
digestive tract, a long coiled,
muscular tube that stretches
from the mouth to the anus
8. TYPES OF DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
1. Incomplete digestive system
-wherein there is only single opening for the
ingestion of food and elimination of
undigested materials
-more common among invertebrates such as
planarians and cnidarians where anus is
absent.
2. Complete digestive system
- they have digestive tubes with two
openings- a mouth and an anus
- where food moves along the digestive tube
in one direction.
9. STAGES IN THE DIGESTION PROCESS
1. Mechanical digestion
-through which food undergoes
physical change by tearing,
grinding and chewing
2. Chemical digestion
-wherein food is broken down into
simpler molecules in the presence
of enzymes
12. MINUTE QUIZ
In a ¼ sheet of paper, answer the question below.
How important are the enzymes
in our body especially in the
digestion process?
13. ASSIGNMENT
In one half crosswise. Answer the question
below.
Write a paragraph describing what
happens to the food you eat at breakfast.
Trace its pathway from mouth to the anus.
Includes the enzymes involved in the
process. (NOTE: The paragraph should
comprises 150 words only.)
14. FOOD FOR THOUGHT
“Be bold enough to use your
voice, brave enough to listen
to your heart and strong
enough to live the life you’ve
always imagined.”
