Top ten things I learned this semester in PRCA 3339: PR Publications

There is no end to what you can
do with these:
network with
professionals, communicate
with potential
clients, customers and the
community.
Whatever you do, get on these
sites!

3. This semester I blogged!
It is a great way to express
yourself, get yourself
published, and to create
and online presence.
This is your space..be
creative!

4. Internships are a valuable asset to your career.
The more the better, they will pay off in the end.
They look great on a resume and you’ll learn everything you
need to know.

5. AP style is what you
will be writing with
BUT
More importantly,
know your
audience: Journalist
How they prefer to
receive pitches, and if
they will even be
interested in your
story.

6. No two days are the same.
Be prepared for the
unpredictable.

7. No one likes to be around a
negative person.
Work on seeing and saying
things positively.
Rants are ok, but stick to the
facts, don’t let your emotions
rule you.

8. Keep up with current events.
My teacher suggest podcast..I
am breaking myself in slowly.
Twitter is really awesome for
up-to-date information.
When someone needs
something, respond
quickly, they need it then.

9. Express your gratitude.
Say thanks in an e-mail or
hand-written letter.
You can do both.
Hand written letter are
not common
anymore, send one and
you’ll stand out.

10. Twitter is so awesome
that is made it on my top
10, twice!
This is a great networking
device.

information and news
