Tacheles was an art center located in a former warehouse building in Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the building was taken over by artists who called it Tacheles, which means "straight talking" in Yiddish. The building contained art studios, workshops, a nightclub and cinema. It featured huge colorful murals on the exterior and modern art sculptures inside. Over 400,000 people visited each year to see the artwork and purchase pieces from the artist studios within. However, Tacheles was closed permanently in September 2012.
