Hello, Let me introduce myself. My name is Elizabeth. I am fifteen years old. I have long brown hair

that maybe goes down to my mid back, I don’t really know since I wear my hair up in a ponytail most of the
time. I’m probably around 64 inches tall. I have pale blue eyes, and big black framed glasses for my terrible
vision. My hobbies include reading and writing, and my favorite subject in school is history. I love history
because it is so interesting! I am not like a normal teenage girl. I read books that were written before I was born,
while other girls read 3 word text messages. I live in Sims Conn with my mother Emily, father Jackson. I am the
only kid in the house. My family and I live in Sims Conn, it’s short for Simsbury Connecticut. Nobody calls it
that anymore though. The year is 2114 so everything now is abbreviated.

Now I’ll explain my family. Starting with my mom. Her name is Emily. She is 43 years old, but she

likes to pretend she is 33. To be honest, she looks pretty good for her age. Personality wise my mom is pretty
strange. She calls me “Liz” and “Lizzie” all the time. She feels that my name is too long and old sounding. She
wants me to be like all the other girls with those simple modern names.

My dad Jackson on the other hand is the complete opposite. He loves the name Elizabeth. He named me

after a queen in England name Queen Elizabeth. My dad was the one in the first place to get me interested in
history. As a kid he would always read me textbooks the way other kids were read short stories.

Right now I take honors History in school. You probably feel bad for me, but I actually love it! There are

only 3 people in that class including myself because nobody cares for history that much. All we learn about is
a hundred years ago all people had were iPhones and cars that can only drive on the ground. They didn’t get to
have time machines, and hover cars.

Even though history is my favorite subject in school, I think we should learn more. All we learn and talk

about is the 20th century. I want to learn more about the 1700s and all the important events. Like the French and
Indian War, The Stamp Act, and the Declaratory Act. Now that I think about it, it be so cool to live through all
those events.
You know what! It’s 2114 and there are such things as time machines. I could go back in time and re-live

the events. I’ll go borrow a time machine from the local BAFTM down the street. That store is short for “Borrow A Free Time Machine”.

I walked into the store, it was empty. “Um hello? Anyone here?” I said as I entered the empty building. I

hear a person rushing from the back of the building. It seemed like he came from his apartment, which was connected to this store. The person that walked from the room was a tall boy about my age.

He had short brown hair, and colorful green eyes that were behind his glasses, that somewhat looked like

mine. He was wearing a short-sleeved red t-shirt, black jeans, and plain black shoes. He wasn’t ugly I guess...

“Oh a customer! We haven’t had one for weeks!’ The boy said.

“Huh, I’m just here to borrow a time machine for a little while.” I replied.

“Go ahead, but remember we won’t take responsibility to what happens to you.”

“What are you talking about?” Is this guy nuts? All I want is a time machine. Is it really that hard?

“Well, you see. The reason we hadn’t had many customers this past couple of weeks was because our

time machines haven’t been working that well lately. They have been doing all kinds of stuff like making people
travel to the wrong place, get them stuck in the date they traveled to, and one time a time machine started acting
up and killed the man that was inside of it. Anyways, why do you want one?”

“Well I don’t think I want one anymore after hearing what you just said!”

“Okay...but why did you want one in the first place?”

“ I am a really big fan of history, and I thought it would be cool to go back in time to around 1665 so I

could re-live events like the Stamp Act.”

“No way! I thought I was the only person in this generation that would even think of reading about

events before the 20th century. I know that we just met, but if you still want to go back in time would you take
me with you?”
“I was thinking about going back to the Stamp Act because I want to tell all the English colonist that the

act will not even last a year and get repealed. It would cause less protest and drama. Wait, I don’t even know
you, and you want to go about 500 years in the past with a girl you just met?”

“Yah, why not? My names Dylan. What’s yours?”

“Elizabeth”

“I like it. So are we going or what?”

I can’t believe this guy? We just met a minute ago, and he wants to go time traveling with me.

“Alright” I agreed

“Meet me here tomorrow at 2:30. Here’s my number. Bye Elizabeth.”

He gave me his number, and I left.

Yah right that guy thinks I’m going to meet him at 2:30 tomorrow. In his dreams. What if he turns out to

be a total jerk, why would I want to be stuck in a time machine with a person like that? On the other hand, he
might also be really nice, and fun to hang out with. Whatever, I haven’t even gotten permission to go on the first
place.

When I walked back home I grabbed the houses keys from my purse, unlocked the front door, and

stepped inside. “Hey guys I’m home.”

“Hey sweetie, where were you?” asked my mom.

“I was at that time machine rent place. I was thinking of going back in time to learn more about history.

What do you think?” I said.

“And why would you do that? Have you seen all stories on the news about the time machine accidents?”

“Mom I’ll be fine.”

My dad walks in. “Hey Elizabeth what’s up?”

“Liz was thinking about renting a time machine and going back in time,” said mom.

“Well I think that’s a great idea!” my dad said.
“Sorry sweetie but we can’t let you go alone.”

“I won’t be going alone” I can’t believe I’m saying this. “I’m going with my friend Dylan.”

“Now who’s this Dylan? We never met him before.”

“Mom I’ll be fine trust me.”

“Okay, I’ll let you go. Only because you aren’t going alone.”

I left to go upstairs so I can call Dylan to tell him the good news.

“Hey” he answered.

“Hi”

“What did your parents say about us going in a time machine?”

“They didn’t like the idea at first but when I told her I was going with someone she agreed.”

“That’s great! So I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yes, bye.” and I hung up.

I woke up. It’s finally the day I get to go to 1665! I’m so excited, what do I take? I don’t want to stand

out. I will make an old fashioned looking dress, and where that this afternoon when I meet Dylan. He will think
I look strange, but it doesn’t matter.

I walked into the shop with my big flowing dress and yelled “Hey let’s go!” “All right all ready!” replied

Dylan. When I saw him he was wearing normal clothes like the ones he wore yesterday. “Are you seriously going to wear this?” I asked. “Um what are you talking about?” I ignored him, opened the door to the time machine, walked in with Dylan, and put in March 15,1765. The day the Stamp Act was passed. We were shaking
inside the machine for a minute, but it stopped and we felt a landing.

When we got out and all we saw were horses, carriages, and dirt roads. It seemed like I fitted in, but ev-

eryone kept staring at Dylan. I wouldn’t blame them; he was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. After that, I walk over
to one of the people and asked them where George Grenville is.
He is the prime minister. He is the person that passed the stamp act. It still hasn’t been passed yet, but it will. I
wanted to find him to warn him that when he passes it, there will be a lot of protestors. When the lady I walked
up to finally answered I took Dylan and we headed up to where Grenville and the entire parliament were.

“Hello are you George Grenville?” I asked. “Yes.” He answered. “I came here to tell you that passing the

Stamp Act will not be helpful in any way, you think it will help bring you money for military supplies, but why
go through all the protesting when you can not pass it and go onto other more important things like the Declaratory Act.” Grenville interrupted and said “Excuse me miss, I don’t have a clue of what you are saying. I didn’t
tell anyone about the Stamp Act, and what is the Declaratory Act?”
I answered by telling him that I am actually not from this time period. “I am from the future. I traveled here
with my friend Dylan and we just came back in time on an invention called a time machine. We thought that
maybe we could change history. We aren’t actually from around here.

He answered more calmly than I thought he would. “So that’s why your friend is dressed in those silly

clothes. “So tell me more about the future and why I shouldn’t announce that the Stamp Act will be passed.
“The Declaratory Act of 1766 was a British Law, passed in mid March by the Parliament of Great Britain, The
colonists celebrated the repeal of the Stamp Act and their political victory,” I explained to Grenville. That’s not
all I said to him. I explained it in more detail.

“Okay. Thanks for saving me trouble. I’ll announce the Declaratory Act tomorrow!” Replied Grenville.

“Bye!” said Dylan.

“Okay, I’m glad that’s over. Now we need to find Samuel Adams, and Patrick Henry. They are the peo-

ple that didn’t like the Stamp Act. When I see them I will tell them that the Stamp Act will not become passed.
He will be confused, but who doesn’t want to talk to Samuel Adams?”

“There they are!” I pointed over to space where there were only two people. Samuel, and Patrick. Dylan

and I walked over to see two men angry. “Hello? Samuel and Patrick?” I asked. “Yes.” one of them answered.
Then I told them what I said to Grenville. The thing about how we are actually from 500 years in the future.
I can tell that they were confused at first but Dylan and I finished what we were supposed to do, and we

spent a day in 1765. I think that it’s time to go back to the time machine.

When we arrived to the location we landed. The time machine looked ruined! It looked like people were

hitting it with a bat or other weapons. “We won’t be able to get back to 2114!” I yelled to Dylan. I was very
scared. I won’t be able to see my parents ever again. I sat down on the dirt ground, and started crying. I felt
weird that Dylan was there and I barely knew him, but I couldn’t help it. I will be stuck her forever. Dylan on
the other hand didn’t really care about family, and friends because all he had was the shop he worked at. I knew
that he wanted to get back, but he wasn’t as sad as I was. He was just crying because he was stuck in a t-shirt
and jeans. We knew there was no way to get back home. We were stuck in 1765 forever.

The Stamp Act

  • 1.
  • 2. Hello, Let me introduce myself. My name is Elizabeth. I am fifteen years old. I have long brown hair that maybe goes down to my mid back, I don’t really know since I wear my hair up in a ponytail most of the time. I’m probably around 64 inches tall. I have pale blue eyes, and big black framed glasses for my terrible vision. My hobbies include reading and writing, and my favorite subject in school is history. I love history because it is so interesting! I am not like a normal teenage girl. I read books that were written before I was born, while other girls read 3 word text messages. I live in Sims Conn with my mother Emily, father Jackson. I am the only kid in the house. My family and I live in Sims Conn, it’s short for Simsbury Connecticut. Nobody calls it that anymore though. The year is 2114 so everything now is abbreviated. Now I’ll explain my family. Starting with my mom. Her name is Emily. She is 43 years old, but she likes to pretend she is 33. To be honest, she looks pretty good for her age. Personality wise my mom is pretty strange. She calls me “Liz” and “Lizzie” all the time. She feels that my name is too long and old sounding. She wants me to be like all the other girls with those simple modern names. My dad Jackson on the other hand is the complete opposite. He loves the name Elizabeth. He named me after a queen in England name Queen Elizabeth. My dad was the one in the first place to get me interested in history. As a kid he would always read me textbooks the way other kids were read short stories. Right now I take honors History in school. You probably feel bad for me, but I actually love it! There are only 3 people in that class including myself because nobody cares for history that much. All we learn about is a hundred years ago all people had were iPhones and cars that can only drive on the ground. They didn’t get to have time machines, and hover cars. Even though history is my favorite subject in school, I think we should learn more. All we learn and talk about is the 20th century. I want to learn more about the 1700s and all the important events. Like the French and Indian War, The Stamp Act, and the Declaratory Act. Now that I think about it, it be so cool to live through all those events.
  • 3. You know what! It’s 2114 and there are such things as time machines. I could go back in time and re-live the events. I’ll go borrow a time machine from the local BAFTM down the street. That store is short for “Borrow A Free Time Machine”. I walked into the store, it was empty. “Um hello? Anyone here?” I said as I entered the empty building. I hear a person rushing from the back of the building. It seemed like he came from his apartment, which was connected to this store. The person that walked from the room was a tall boy about my age. He had short brown hair, and colorful green eyes that were behind his glasses, that somewhat looked like mine. “Go ahead, but remember we won’t take responsibility to what happens to you.” “What are you talking about?” Is this guy nuts? All I want is a time machine. Is it really that hard? “Well, you see. The reason we hadn’t had many customers this past couple of weeks was because our time machines haven’t been working that well lately. They have been doing all kinds of stuff like making people travel to the wrong place, get them stuck in the date they traveled to, and one time a time machine started acting up and killed the man that was inside of it. Anyways, why do you want one?” “Well I don’t think I want one anymore after hearing what you just said!” “Okay...but why did you want one in the first place?” “ I am a really big fan of history, and I thought it would be cool to go back in time to around 1665 so I could re-live events like the Stamp Act.” “No way! I thought I was the only person in this generation that would even think of reading about events before the 20th century. I know that we just met, but if you still want to go back in time would you take me with you?”
  • 4. “I was thinking about going back to the Stamp Act because I want to tell all the English colonist that the act will not even last a year and get repealed. It would cause less protest and drama. Wait, I don’t even know you, and you want to go about 500 years in the past with a girl you just met?” “Yah, why not? My names Dylan. What’s yours?” “Elizabeth” “I like it. So are we going or what?” I can’t believe this guy? We just met a minute ago, and he wants to go time traveling with me. “Alright” I agreed “Meet me here tomorrow at 2:30. Here’s my number. Bye Elizabeth.” He gave me his number, and I left. Yah right that guy thinks I’m going to meet him at 2:30 tomorrow. In his dreams. What if he turns out to be a total jerk, why would I want to be stuck in a time machine with a person like that? On the other hand, he might also be really nice, and fun to hang out with. Whatever, I haven’t even gotten permission to go on the first place. When I walked back home I grabbed the houses keys from my purse, unlocked the front door, and stepped inside. “Hey guys I’m home.” “Hey sweetie, where were you?” asked my mom. “I was at that time machine rent place. I was thinking of going back in time to learn more about history. What do you think?” I said. “And why would you do that? Have you seen all stories on the news about the time machine accidents?” “Mom I’ll be fine.” My dad walks in. “Hey Elizabeth what’s up?” “Liz was thinking about renting a time machine and going back in time,” said mom. “Well I think that’s a great idea!” my dad said.
  • 5. “Sorry sweetie but we can’t let you go alone.” “I won’t be going alone” I can’t believe I’m saying this. “I’m going with my friend Dylan.” “Now who’s this Dylan? We never met him before.” “Mom I’ll be fine trust me.” “Okay, I’ll let you go. Only because you aren’t going alone.” I left to go upstairs so I can call Dylan to tell him the good news. “Hey” he answered. “Hi” “What did your parents say about us going in a time machine?” “They didn’t like the idea at first but when I told her I was going with someone she agreed.” “That’s great! So I’ll see you tomorrow.” “Yes, bye.” and I hung up. I woke up. It’s finally the day I get to go to 1665! I’m so excited, what do I take? I don’t want to stand out. I will make an old fashioned looking dress, and where that this afternoon when I meet Dylan. He will think I look strange, but it doesn’t matter. I walked into the shop with my big flowing dress and yelled “Hey let’s go!” “All right all ready!” replied Dylan. We were shaking inside the machine for a minute, but it stopped and we felt a landing. When we got out and all we saw were horses, carriages, and dirt roads. It seemed like I fitted in, but ev- eryone kept staring at Dylan. I wouldn’t blame them; he was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. After that, I walk over to one of the people and asked them where George Grenville is.
  • 6. He is the prime minister. He is the person that passed the stamp act. It still hasn’t been passed yet, but it will. I wanted to find him to warn him that when he passes it, there will be a lot of protestors. When the lady I walked up to finally answered I took Dylan and we headed up to where Grenville and the entire parliament were. “Hello are you George Grenville?” I asked. “Yes.” He answered. “I came here to tell you that passing the Stamp Act will not be helpful in any way, you think it will help bring you money for military supplies, but why go through all the protesting when you can not pass it and go onto other more important things like the Declaratory Act.” Grenville interrupted and said “Excuse me miss, I don’t have a clue of what you are saying. I didn’t tell anyone about the Stamp Act, and what is the Declaratory Act?” I answered by telling him that I am actually not from this time period. “I am from the future. I traveled here with my friend Dylan and we just came back in time on an invention called a time machine. We thought that maybe we could change history. We aren’t actually from around here. He answered more calmly than I thought he would. “So that’s why your friend is dressed in those silly clothes. “So tell me more about the future and why I shouldn’t announce that the Stamp Act will be passed. “The Declaratory Act of 1766 was a British Law, passed in mid March by the Parliament of Great Britain, The colonists celebrated the repeal of the Stamp Act and their political victory,” I explained to Grenville. That’s not all I said to him. They are the peo- ple that didn’t like the Stamp Act. When I see them I will tell them that the Stamp Act will not become passed. He will be confused, but who doesn’t want to talk to Samuel Adams?” “There they are!” I pointed over to space where there were only two people. Samuel, and Patrick. Dylan and I walked over to see two men angry. “Hello? Samuel and Patrick?” I asked. “Yes.” one of them answered. Then I told them what I said to Grenville. The thing about how we are actually from 500 years in the future.
  • 7. I can tell that they were confused at first but Dylan and I finished what we were supposed to do, and we spent a day in 1765. I think that it’s time to go back to the time machine. When we arrived to the location we landed. The time machine looked ruined! It looked like people were hitting it with a bat or other weapons. “We won’t be able to get back to 2114!” I yelled to Dylan. I was very scared. I won’t be able to see my parents ever again. I sat down on the dirt ground, and started crying. I felt weird that Dylan was there and I barely knew him, but I couldn’t help it. I will be stuck her forever. Dylan on the other hand didn’t really care about family, and friends because all he had was the shop he worked at. I knew that he wanted to get back, but he wasn’t as sad as I was. He was just crying because he was stuck in a t-shirt and jeans. We knew there was no way to get back home. We were stuck in 1765 forever.
