Introduction
Bittermelon is one of the least
enjoyed vegetables, especially by
children, mainly because of its
bitter taste. Unknown to many, it
contain peptides like charantin
and polypeptide-p. Charantin is an
insulin-like peptide that increase
the glucose tolerance of humans,
thus preventing diabetes.
Polypeptide-p has hypoglycemic
activity which lowers blood sugar
levels. Other peptides present act
as antibiotics
Candy, on the other hand, is on of
the foods most enjoyed by children
due to its sweet taste. Candies do
not contain any nutrients that
support the body and are therefore
considered junk food..

• Is Squash(Momordica charantia)
as a candy applicable?
• Are there sufficient level of
nutrients present in the candy?
• Does it give a reasonable
sweetness the most kids like and
some of its sourness?

• Alternative: We can make a
sweet year sour and
nutritious candy out of
Squash (Momordica charantia)

Significance of the Study
This research is important in
order to know wether if Squash
can be a good source of candies.
The result will show the level
of nutrients in its content.
The relevance of this study is
to produce candies that has a
nutritional value and that
won’t be considered as junk
food. These candies considered
junk food are those without
nutritional content but with
only sweetener.
It’s importance is that it can
give nutrition while satisfying
the sweet tooths of kids and
candy lovers.

The research on this Squash

focusing on how effective this
will be in giving nutrients and
its results on a nutrient test.
