  1. 72% of all newly-acquired devices are now smartphones.
  2. There’re now more than 1 billion smartphones in use world wide… With forecasts of an additional 1 billion more within about three years.
  3. Mobile device visit share and conversion rates for Ecommerce sites The Monetate Q4 2013 Ecommerce Quarterly published February 2014 gives insight on smartphone vs tablet vs desktop share of audience for large Ecommerce brands.
  4. Mobile web is growing at eight times the rate of the desktop Internet… THAT IS 8 TIMES faster than how desktops were used!! What this means for us is that we are quickly becoming a mobile-first world.
  5. In order to ensure less requests to the server utilizing a combination ofAJAX,JSON,Node.js, and Angular.jseffectively can create a better user experience for the end user. Even though these technologies are fairly new each project is unique and will require it’s own specs.
  6. This site isn’t the worst example but they’re not mobile friendly. You’re required to pinch and zoom , on smaller devices, in order to see a lot of the content and it makes for a really bad user experience.
  7. This is another example of a site that is not so mobile friendly! Some things that stand out right away are, the small type size;whichis hard to make out. Again some pinch and tabbing is required to zoom in & out to read some of the content on smaller devices. Overall not the worst but can benefit from having a mobile friendly version to increase the user experience.
  8. CSS-Tricks.com is a good example of having a responsive site. The brand is consistent with their message, brand identity, and color scheme but makes it extremely easy to navigate and find the content they’re looking for. In addition allowing users to appreciate the content versus being overwhelmed with unnecessary content.
  9. Another example of a great responsive site is Forefathers.com they do a great job of utilizing some modern technologies to create a consistent feel for their brand across multiple devices.
  10. “Beat your competitors by providing this feature to your users!” Don’t be that one company that lost business just because of a bad mobile experience!
