Methodology
 What is methodology?
 Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the
methods applied to a field of study.
 Why is important vocabulary?
 Vocabulary knowledge is critical to reading
comprehension, it is important that those working
with young readers help foster their development of
a large “word bank” and effective vocabulary
learning strategies
BODY
 This tecnique uses facial expressions, gestures,
using hands and arms, mime and actions to show
meaning.
BODY DEFINITION
Body language refers to various forms of nonverbal
communication, wherein a person may reveal clues as to some
unspoken intention or feeling through their physical behavior.
These behaviors can include body posture, gestures, facial
expressions, and eye movements. Body language can also
vary depending on the culture.
INVESTIGATORS SAY
 According to various researchers, body language is thought to
account for between 50 to 70 percent of all communication.
Understanding body language is important, but it is also
essential to remember to note other such as context and to
look at signals as a group rather than focusing on a single
action.
TYPES OF BODY LANGUAGE
 What types of body language can be distinguished?
 Body language is usually grouped along two lines...
 Intent
INTENT
 Another way to group types of body language is along
Intent:
 Voluntary/Intentional movements - Usually called
"Gestures". These are movements you intended to
make, like shaking a hand, giving the finger, blinking
with one eye...
 Involuntary movements - Usually called "tells", but
"ticks" also fall into this category. Any body movement
you have no cotrol over falls in this category. While
technically not a body movement, sweating also applies.
 So where is Tone of Voice?
 While usually seen as body language, tone of voice and
intonation are a separate group from body language.
THE GROUPS THAT ARE FOUND IN TONE OF VOICE
ARE :
 Pitch of voice - high voice, low voice, intonation.
 Loudness - Everything from shouting to whispering.
 Breathing - Slow, fast breathing, shaky voice.
EXAMPLES OF BODY LANGUAGE
Following are examples of body language, and what each
example communicates to other people:
Arms crossed over the chest. This example of body language can
indicate that a person is being defensive. It can also demonstrate
that the individual with crossed arms disagrees with the opinions
or actions of other individuals with whom they are communicating.
Nail biting. Nail biting is a type of habit than can demonstrate
stress, nervousness, or insecurity. Oftentimes people bite their
nails without even realizing it.
Hand placed on the cheek. This example of body language can
indicate that a person is lost in thought, or is considering
something. Sometimes when the hand is on the cheek, it is
accompanied by a furrowed brow, which further demonstrates
deep concentration.
Tapping or drumming the fingers. Finger-tapping demonstrates
that a person is growing impatient or tired of waiting.
Head tilted to one side. A tilted head demonstrates that a person
is listening keenly, or is interested in what is being communicated.
Touching the nose. When someone touches or rubs their nose, it
can signify a number of things: it can be a signal of disbelief or
rejection, or it can also demonstrate that an individual is being
untruthful about what they are saying.
