How to put a book on your Nook from the public library.

- Clikc on “Sign In”
- Choose “Libraries H-O” to get to Mason City’s library.
- Choose Mason City.
- Insert your library card number and click on “Login”.
- You’ll need to scroll on the left side of the screen until you see the category of books in which you’re interested.
- I’m going to choose “Fiction” and “All Fiction”.
- Since I don’t like to wait for books, I like to browse through books that are available right now. So, if you’re like me, make sure to click on the box in front of “Only show titles with copies available.” and click on the “Submit” button to see all of the books that are available today.
- You can see in the search results that there are 562 fiction books available right now. You can scroll through all the books page by page, but I’ve decided to check out 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
- If you use a Kindle, you’ll need to select the Kindle edition of this ebook and click on “Add to Cart” on the right side of the screen. If you use a Nook, you will choose the EPUB version of the book and click on “Add to Cart” across from that one.
- If this is the book your want and are done browsing, click on “Proceed to Checkout”.
- When you click “Confirm Check Out”, you’ll be taken to the page where you can Download the book.
- When you click on the “Download” button, the book will be downloaded to your computer. You’ll need to transfer it to your eReader.
- After the book has downloaded, you can “Sign Out”. But, you will need one more piece of free software to be able to put the book onto your Nook.
- You need Adobe Digital Edition to move the downloaded took onto your Nook. Follow the directions to download this program to your computer’s desktop.
- After “Adobe Digital Editions” is downloaded to and installed on your computer, open the book you downloaded with this new program. I chose 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
- Ctrl-click (or right-click) on the book file, choose “Open With”, and then choose “Adobe Digital Editions”. That program will open the book.
- I cannot show you exactly what to do from here because I already have two books checked out. Anyway, the book will open in the reading view, but you’ll have to click on the “bookshelf” to go back to the library view (RED). Plug in your Nook using the USB cable and it should show up at the bottom of the “Bookshelves” list (YELLOW). The book title should show up in the “All Items” list (BLUE). To get the book onto your Nook, just click on the book and drag it across to the icon of your Nook. Then, eject the Nook from your computer, wake it up, and go to the home screen. You’ll find the book in My Files, Digital Editions folder. Choose it and there you go!
