52. Les Noces de Cana est un tableau de Paul Véronèse conservé aujourd'hui au musée du Louvre, à Paris.
Une scène biblique dans une fête vénitienne:
À Cana, en Galilée, le Christ est invité à un repas de mariage au cours duquel il accomplit son premier
miracle. A la fin du banquet, alors que le vin vient à manquer, il demande aux serviteurs de remplir d'eau les
jarres de pierre puis de servir le maître de maison, qui constate que l'eau s'est changée en vin.
Le profane et le sacré:
Véronèse orchestre une véritable mise en scène. La composition, divisée en deux montre une partie
supérieure avec le ciel parcouru de nuages blancs et une partie inférieure terrestre envahie par la foule.
On y dénombre cent trente convives, mêlant les personnages de la Bible à des figures contemporaines. Au
milieu de cette foule, plusieurs chiens, oiseaux, une perruche et un chat s'ébattent.

53. Svatba v Káni galilejské je mohutný a detailně propracovaný pozdně renesanční obraz, který stvořil známý
malíř Paolo Veronese. Je jedním z největších obrazů v pařížském Louvru.
Motiv tohoto obrazu je inspirován biblickým výjevem, když Ježíš Kristus uskutečnil svůj první zázrak, když
proměnil vodu ve víno (Jan 2,1-11).
Do přední části obrazu umístil Paolo sám sebe. Je to hudebník uprostřed první řady v bílém šatu a s
vyhrnutým pláštěm, pod nímž je vidět žluté punčochy.
Uprostřed celého dění, v zadní řadě pod balustrádou sedí Ježíš Kristus. Nad hlavou má jemně naznačenou
svatozář a klid ve tváři.
Veronese na obrazu s pomocníky pracoval 15 měsíců a umístil do něho celkem 130 osob, mnohé z nich
historicky významné.
