1. Identify the types of quackery.
2. Complete the table by giving examples of medical, nutrition, and device quackery.
3. Appreciate the knowledge about quackery.

Materials: Pictures, LCD Projector, PowerPoint Presentation, Laptop, Markers, Manila paper, Construction papers,
Intermediate papers.

1. Presentation
Consumers receive health information, products, and services from various
sources, thus individuals may be prone to frauds. An example of which is

Quackeryisaformof ahealthfraud,isanyadvertisement,promotion,orsale
of products and services that have not been scientifically proven safe and
effective. It is being operated by a Quack.
What is a Quack?
Thank you for you answer.
A Quack is an individual that has little or no professional qualifications to
practice medicine. He/ She also pretentiously uses meaningless medical
jargon and relies on scare tactics, paranoid accusations, and quick fixes.
There are three major characteristics of health quackery.
 First, it is a Big business. A huge amount of money is spent on
fraudulent health products and services.
 Second, it multiplies and spreads fast.
 Lastly, it thrives on individual who are diagnosedwith illnesses that
are known to have no cure.

Okay, I have three words here in a meta strips to give you.
These are the three forms of quackery.
The Medical Quackery, the Nutrition Quackery, and the Device
Quackery. What you are going to do is to post one strip below the
poster where it belongs.

 Medical Quackery - includes cures, treatments, and
remedies of various health conditions that are drugless or
bloodless in nature.
 Nutrition Quackery - involves promotion of food fads and
othernutritional practicesthatclaimtobe all-natural.These
are believedtohave beneficial propertiesof multiple plants
in one product.
 Device Quackery - makesuse of miraculousgadgets(suchas
dials, gauges, electrodes, magnets and blinkers) that are
believed to cure certain conditions.

Materials: Pictures, LCD Projector, PowerPoint Presentation, Laptop, Markers, Manila paper, Construction papers, Intermediate papers. Strategy: Collaborative Learning III. Procedure TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY A. PreparatoryActivities 1. Warm up Drills Good Morning Class? How are you today? Good! May I request ____ to lead the prayer. a. Prayer b. Class, I am going to show you some posters and I want you to study the picture. Where do you often see these kind of posters? What message do these posters want to convey? What is being sold in the first poster? What is being sold in the second poster? On these products, what does it guarantee? Will you buy it? Why do you want to buy the product? Presentation Consumers receive health information, products, and services from various sources, thus individuals may be prone to frauds. An example of which is Quackery? Quackeryisaformof ahealthfraud,isanyadvertisement,promotion,orsale of products and services that have not been scientifically proven safe and effective. It is being operated by a Quack. What is a Quack? Thank you for you answer. A Quack is an individual that has little or no professional qualifications to practice medicine. He/ She also pretentiously uses meaningless medical jargon and relies on scare tactics, paranoid accusations, and quick fixes. There are three major characteristics of health quackery.  First, it is a Big business. A huge amount of money is spent on fraudulent health products and services.  Second, it multiplies and spreads fast.  Lastly, it thrives on individual who are diagnosedwith illnesses that are known to have no cure. 2. The Medical Quackery, the Nutrition Quackery, and the Device Quackery. What you are going to do is to post one strip below the poster where it belongs. Thank you student. Very good! Analysis Nowwe knowthe three formsof Quackery.Let usreadthedefinition to fully understand what these are.  Medical Quackery - includes cures, treatments, and remedies of various health conditions that are drugless or bloodless in nature.  Nutrition Quackery - involves promotion of food fads and othernutritional practicesthatclaimtobe all-natural.These are believedtohave beneficial propertiesof multiple plants in one product.  Device Quackery - makesuse of miraculousgadgets(suchas dials, gauges, electrodes, magnets and blinkers) that are believed to cure certain conditions.
