Booking Sheets Rise & Fall Method
Recording your levels – Rise & Fall Method – copy readings on a piece of paper BM –1st  reading taken was 2.250 (this is a back sight) (D) Last reading taken was .486(which is a foresight) (C) 5th  reading taken was 2.400( a foresight) 2nd  reading taken of  2.825 (this is a intermediate site) BM C D A (B) 3rd  reading taken was 1.976(which is a foresight) (C) 6th reading taken new instrument position was 1.880 (which is a back sight) B (B) 4th  reading taken new position of instrument was 2.120 (which is a back sight) Now we’ll have a look at how they go onto a booking sheet Triangles indicate instrument positions Letters indicate staff positions

First Remember the rules for completing the booking sheet The first reading you take is always a Backsight (BS) The last reading you take is always a Foresight (FS) The readings you take in between are Intermediate sights (IS)

 Then intermediate site, one line down
 Then foresight one line down again
Then our instrument is moved (c.p. change point), our first reading from here is a backsight, but still goes on the line for staff reading B – etc. complete the rest
 In the remarks column you can also note the staff reading points, A,B,C, etc.,[object Object]

  • 11. This is simply deducting one reading from the previous and posting the answer in the rise & fall column
  • 12.

  • 14. Total the columns
  • 15. Take FS away from BS
  • 16. Take Fall away from Rise
  • 17.
  • 18. eg. 47.195 - .575 = 46.620
  • 19. 46.620 + .849 = 47.469 and so on
  • 21.
  • 22. Take the last RL away from the firstAgain All Answers should EQUAL !
  • 23. Review the completed booking sheet
