3. • A combustor is a component or area of a jet
engine where combustion takes place. It is
also known as a burner, combustion
chamber or flame holder.
• There are 3 types of combustors.
• These are: Can, Cannular and Annular.
4. Can
• Each "can" has its own fuel
injector, igniter, liner, and casing
• The air from the compressor is
guided into each individual can.
• It is then decelerated and mixed
with fuel.
• Finally it is ignited.
5.
6. Cannular
• Otherwise known as can-annular.
• Similar to a can type.
• Contains discrete combustion zones contained
in separate liners with their own fuel injectors.
• Unlike the can combustor, all the combustion
zones share a common ring casing.
7.
8. • This is the most common type used.
• They do not have separate combustion zones
and simply have a continuous liner and casing
in a ring.
