The objective of this project is to increase the performance of H-Rotor Darrieus turbine. A detailed numerical analysis has been made and the main aim is to enhance the performance of the turbine without changing its geometry. So we introduce two barrier plates. The effect of this barrier on the rotor performance has been analysed. To increase the rotor performance, it is important to prevent the negative torque that forms in the adverse direction of the rotor’s rotating direction. A new design has been put forward for the purpose of increasing the performance of the Darrieus wind rotor without making any modifications in its basic structure. The effect of barrier is to prevent the negative torque that forms in the adverse direction of the rotor’s rotating direction.

This project of Maglev windmill on the implementation of an alternate configuration of a wind turbine for power generation purposes. Using the effects of magnetic repulsion, spiral shaped wind turbine blades will be fitted on a rod for stability during rotation and suspended on magnets as a replacement for ball bearings which are normally used on conventional wind turbines. Power will then be generated with an axial flux generator, which incorporates the use of permanent magnets and a set of coils. The project aimed at 1) Understanding the performance of wind power project of 830KW 2) Determining system reliability (Grid availability, Machine availability, System availability) and operating hours of the wind conversion system from the data obtained at site 3) Analyzing the effect of various parameters like velocity, blade length, temperature, pressure, air density on the power generation of a wind turbine 4) Forecasting or Predicting the performance of the wind turbine generators based on the above parameters This analysis can be used to existing sites which are nearby the above evaluated wind power project for Maximizing power generation It helps us to understand effect of various parameters viz. air density, air pressure, air temperature, blade length, velocity on the power generation According to the results, there is a high effect of air characteristics on the mechanical power. The environment’s parameter has a massive effect on the generated power, which will lead the researchers to concentrate on it with highest priority Complete one year data was used for the analysis of the wind power project Results were executed using Matlab

OTEC or OCEAN THERMAL ENERGY CONVERSION, is a renewable energy technology that converts solar radiation to electric power by use of the world oceans. The use of OTEC as a source of electricity will help reduce the state’s almost complete dependence on imported fossil fuels. About one fourth of the 1.7 * 1013 watts of solar energy reaching the earth’s atmosphere is absorbed by sea water. OTEC can be considered as an indirect solar technology because the surface water are warmed by the sun. OTEC can also be used to produce ammonia, hydrogen, aluminium, chlorine and other chemicals.

Reliability plays an important role in power supplies, as every power supply is the very heart of every electronics equipment. For other electronic equipment, a certain failure mode, at least for a part of the total system, can often be tolerated without serious (critical) after effects. However, for the power supply no such condition can be accepted, since very high demands on the reliability must be achieved. At higher power levels, the CCM boost converter is preferred topology for implementation a front end with PFC. As a result significant efforts have been made to improve the performance of high boost converter. This paper is one the effort for improving the performance of the converter from the reliability point of view. In this paper a boost power factor correction converter is simulated with single switch and interleaving technique in CCM, DCM and CRM modes under different output power ratings and the reliability. Results of the converter are explored from reliability point of view.

Today, with the increase of distributed generation sources in power systems, it’s important to optimal location of these sources. Determine the number, location, size and type of distributed generation (DG) on Power Systems, causes the reducing losses and improving reliability of the system. In this paper is used Co-evolutionary particle swarm optimization algorithm (CPSO) to determine the optimal values of the listed parameters. Obtained results through simulations are done in MATLAB software is presented in the form of figure and table in this paper. These tables and figures, show how to changes the system losses and improving reliability by changing parameters such as location, size, number and type of DG. Finally, the results of this method are compared with the results of the Genetic algorithm (GA) method, to determine the performance of each of these methods.

Most system designers and project managers look at the project procurement, installation and deployment costs when they price a project. However, the costs of an automation system spread over the whole life cycle of the plant and should include costs of system failures, maintenance, health-checking etc. Perhaps most important is the cost in terms of loss of plant function should faults develop during the lifetime of the plant. Spending a little more at procurement time can repay many times over. Good fault tolerant design need not be more expensive. Sometimes fault tolerance can be achieved with just a little thought at no additional cost.

The basic purpose of an electric power system is to supply its consumers with electric energy as parsimoniously as possible and with a sensible degree of continuity and quality. It is expected that the solicitation of power system reliability assessment in bulk power systems will continue to increase in the future especially in the newly deregulated power diligence. This paper presents the research conducted on the three areas of incorporating multi-state generating unit models, evaluating system performance indices and identifying transmission paucities in complex system adequacy assessment. The incentives for electricity market participants to endow in new generation and transmission facilities are highly influenced by the market risk in a complex restructured environment. This paper also presents a procedure to identify transmission deficiencies and remedial modification in the composite generation and transmission system and focused on the application of probabilistic techniques in composite system adequacy assessment

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
