A training need exists when there is a gap between
what is required of a person to perform their duties
completely and what they actually know that
enables them to do so.
A training needs analysis will generally identify the
specific subject matter that needs to be covered
during instruction. Knowledge gained by the
learner will help to increase the level of ability and
allow the learner to perform task at an acceptance
level

Training Need Analysis

  • 1. 8 to 13 August 2015 Organized by BAPA-EU in consultation with BSDI
  • 2. A training need exists when there is a gap between what is required of a person to perform their duties completely and what they actually know that enables them to do so. A training needs analysis will generally identify the specific subject matter that needs to be covered during instruction. Knowledge gained by the learner will help to increase the level of ability and allow the learner to perform task at an acceptance level
  • 3.  New process introduced  Complaints from staff  Complaints from customer/clients  Poor quality of work  Frequent errors  Large staff turnover  Performance dates not meet  Conflicts between staff  New equipment/systems or process  Safety incidents
  • 4.  Does a performance problem exist?  Does the employee know how to do the job  Why is there a gap in performance?  Can the gap be qualified or quantified?  What are the consequences if the organization does nothing about the gap?  What is seriousness of these significances?  What are parameters of the problem, needs and tasks to approach it?  What are the most important ways to deal with first?
